A month had passed, yet ShangYu never got the chance to bring ShiWen on a trip.

They were comfortably nestled in their own little world for too long, too long that they'd forget that there had always been troubles looming around since the very beginning, and in such a case, it's ShangYu's mother.

ShiWen's cooking skills had improved, and the dishes he cooked were always superb. ShangYu liked to cuddle ShiWen from behind when the omega cooked, whispering "babe" and "ShiWen" in his ears, and sometimes, when he was in the mood, he would leave sticky kisses to his boyfriend's cheek, like a huge feline.

They kissed beside the dining table made of pearl shell , the Alpha's unruly hand probed in from the corner of ShiWen's clothes, their scent mingled, it was all too intimate to care for the rest of the world, and because of that, they missed the sound at the gate.

It wasn't until a shriek came that they realized it was ShangYu's mother at the door.

ShiWen's half-open shirt was still hanging on his shoulder, ShangYu reacted quickly and helped him straighten up his clothes. ShangYu's mother's face was dark. Holding back the urge to smash her handbag at ShiWen, she did her best to put on a calm face and ask ShangYu to wait for her in the study.

ShangYu nodded.

The meals on the table had turned cold, it's been a while since the two immersed themselves in the study, ShiWen slumped on the sofa, trying to distract himself, but nothing could do, he was at loss, unable to breathe.

ShangYu told him not to worry, but he still couldn't wipe that disgusted look on ShangYu's mother's face off his mind, and it had made him unable to suppress his sadness.

He had expected that ShangYu's mother wouldn't like him, he was born, after all, from a low end family. ShangYu's mother had wanted ShangYu to have an arrangement marriage with someone who at least was in the same social class as the Shang's, but...

He was just the mere son of an uncouth nobleman, he was meant to have nothing to do with ShangYu. If not for that drunken mistake, ShangYu wouldn't have been his boyfriend.

A few minutes later, ShangYu and his mother appeared at the door. She slammed the door and left furiously, viciously glaring at ShiWen on the way out,

"ShangYu...", ShiWen grabbed a corner of ShangYu's shirt.

ShangYu's mother stopped at the door, glaring at ShiWen, who was now hiding behind her son, "This isn't over," she finally said, before slamming the door and storming away,

The loud noise of doors slamming shook the house. ShiWen trembled. Seeing this, ShangYu turned and wrapped him in his arm, soothing his voice, "Don't worry, dear, she's gone."

"I know," ShiWen said quietly, hiding his face in ShangYu's chest.

Their interest in dining was interrupted, ShangYu carried ShiWen to the sofa. The latter were trembling, not because of scent, but just instinctive fear, ShangYu silently waited for ShiWen to calm down. Ten minutes later, the youth in his arm was finally able to speak properly, "When you're in there...what did she say?"

"Nothing really, she asked about our relationship, like if this is serious, when we had been together, just the normal stuff. I forget the rest."

"That's all?"

"Yeah," ShangYu nodded and planted a kiss on ShiWen's forehead, "that's all."

"No crying and complaining? No harsh words or anything?" ShiWen looked at him with disbelief.

"Well," ShangYu mused, "There are some, I guess, but it doesn't matter, I'm the only family heir, so her threats is of little use."

"?What??" ShiWen froze.

"Pfft, haven't I told you that?" ShangYu pinched ShiWen's face with amusement, "I'm the only SSS alpha in the family, of course I'm the only heir, the whole family has to listen to me if they want to bring food to their table, her threats doesn't really matter to me."

"...You SSS Alphas were really rogues, weren't you?" ShiWen muttered under his breath.

"Of course." ShangYu grinned.
