Amy gripped the whisk tighter by pressing her thumb on the holder, while the other wrapped the bowl close to her chest as she stirred the mixture thoroughly. Her eyes focused on the flour leftovers that were sticking on the underside of the bowl and the whisk seemed like it was moving further away.

She tried again to stir faster and then finally got the right angle, but the mix wasn't quite right.

Her movements had become sloppy.

Perhaps she had spent too much time in the kitchen; baking away on any desserts she could think of and doing them on the spot whenever she could due to her excitement. Her fingers hadn't rested and stretched ever since Sonic told her about the princess' birthday celebration - her mind never idle once she heard the offer.

Now, she wanted to try one of her infamous recipes at the cafe - strawberry shortcake. The taste of a simple sweet cake has always been her ideal food.

It was simply too easy to serve, yet so satisfying. Not only did it taste delicious without any sugar or artificial flavoring, which Amy really liked but also added a sense of sweetness. But more importantly than all that, she enjoyed how light it tasted, and that the frosting was smooth.

She looked at the macerated strawberries in a bowl beside her, and continued to whisk while checking on Miles and Cream who was cleaning the cafe's front counter.

She leaned on the doorframe as she silently observed the two teenagers cleaning their place after the last customers went home for the day. After a while, she noticed a few differences in Miles' behavior on treating the young rabbit; instead of leaving her unanswered questions, he was now asking a question and Cream was answering with enthusiasm and full of knowledge about how he works.

She was smiling widely at him, not giving in even when he had a hard time trying to understand her explanations.

She smiled a bit wider when Cream said "you are amazing!" with the utmost sincerity when Miles had told him about what he does for a living, and he turned around just to let out a small smile behind her. She watched the two interacting closely, while Miles' face started to warm up while Cream showed his appreciation.

While Amy couldn't help but notice how cute Miles is in his own quirky way, she still couldn't help but feel slightly jealous of the relationship they share. She shook off this thought immediately, though; Miles wasn't hers to be jealous, especially when her heart had already given up on Sonic and he didn't have the ability to return to what they used to be.

Still, it felt nice to watch both of them being happy, regardless of the fact that Amy knew Miles is clearly new to relationships - he had never approached any girls, let alone talked to them back when she was in the bandits. He would either stand beside or hide behind Sonic whenever he talked to someone, while looking away from any girls or girls themselves.

And why is she still here thinking about the past? What should she focus more on now than all those things?

Her eyes wandered around the café and she caught sight of Miles putting away some ingredients in different bags and containers; the same bag he used to carry his ingredients inside.

He suddenly stopped and stared outside, probably watching something that made him stop.

Then, his head turned to Amy once he peaked through the curtains, his voice composed as he always was.

"Someone's here."

It was a statement, not a question, and Amy didn't dare to ask who exactly that someone was because her curiosity had peaked enough already, if possible, as she was curious to know who exactly this mysterious person was and what made Miles react so strongly when she saw him.
