King Ark's Pov

"The girls have arrived" I stare at the guard squirming in front of me, it was never my intention to make him uncomfortable but that's an effect I have on people.

"And the seer?" I asked in reply to his earlier statement, hating the fact that he's squirming, obviously he's one of the new batch of guards because the old ones know that I wouldn't hurt them at least not without a justifiable reason

"She arrived shortly after the humans, they're all in the grand hall downstairs, waiting" he tries to hide the tremble in his voice and the tension in his body but his squirming is still noticeable, enough to make him embarrassed.

"Tell them I'm coming" I say and he practically sprints out the door, I couldn't blame him for his fear, not after what some past kings have done, not after the evil stories surrounding the demon kings, I'd be trembling if I were in his shoes too.

With a sigh, I rise, careful not to tip over the glass of champagne on the table. My long legs carry me to the door in quick strides and I quickly glance around the room to make sure everything is in place.

The files on my desk are neatly arranged, the window is half open with the curtains drawn, the rug is in the perfect position, the glass of champagne  sticks out like a sore thumb though and I'll be sure to tell a maid to come get it out. Other than that, everything is perfect, just the way I like it.

I reach the grand hall in record time and I push the door open making my way to my throne, not looking anyone in the eye.

"Your majesty" everyone in the room bows as I sit, I looked towards the humans and I can feel the nerves pouring from them in waves, I couldn't place a particular smell to them but that's just cause of the masking spray and it'll wear off in a few days, normally, I'd tell them not to spray the girls but it affects the demons who are not used to having humans around much, so by the time it wears off, they'd be used to them.

"You may rise" I watched as they all rose my eyes darting around trying to find the seer.

"Have your seat humans" I say gesturing to the rows of seats neatly arranged in the right corner and they all scurry to sit.

"Commander Ethan, Lady Eleanor, thank you for bringing the girls, you may take the rest of the day off" a wide grin threatens to break out on Ethan's face but he quickly suppresses it while Eleanor has the widest grin ever.

"Thank you your majesty" I only nod in response, I give them the day off every time they go to bring the ladies in and they have the same reaction every time.

"Lucia?" The seer moves forward at the sound of her name, her white hair cascaded down her back and her face looks wrinkled from old age. She's blind but she sees perfectly, how though is beyond me and I never question it.

Seers are a very big part of our tradition, while witches have potions, dragons have mages, we have seers. They are the blessed breed from the almighty and my people have always cherished them.

Just with a single touch, they can see a person's entire future but the best ones are the ones who do not even need to touch a person, all they need is a name and then a person's future is as clear as day, well to them actually.

"Your majesty" she greets and begins laying out her things on the floor, first she lays her mat, her frail body gently moving, incenses are next and soon she has them lit in a circular form while she sits criss-crossed in the middle.

"Their names, your majesty" she says and I stand up to address the girls.

"Welcome ladies, as you all know I'm King Ark; the King of Montain. You're all welcome to the kingdom of Montain and for as long as you stay here, you have my protection and if anyone of you ever needs anything, do not hesitate to let me know" I honestly mean everything I say but I also know deep down that even if they need anything, they're never going to talk.
