The Saviour of Pink Haven

The Test - Section 10

[3 cycles later, Techno ordered Loon to meet at a specific area, while Ivy collected specific materials for Five Pebbles. Loon saw Techno sitting down but didn't approach. Loon was late, so Tech called someone. Loon leaned in closer to try and hear what they were saying.] 

"You're gonna make it back, right? When I heard that you got eaten by something that's supposed to be dead, I think I died for a sec." "Yeah, but that's all I'll let happen to me. How's it going back at Pink Haven?" "It's going good, people are wondering why the store's been closed for a while." "What have you been telling them?" "That the owner is getting more supplies." "Good." "Keep the place running while I'm gone, alright?" "You got it, boss."

[The monitor in front of him closed] 

"I know you were listening." 

[He turned to Loon and stared a cold, nearly dead stare.]

"You didn't need to hide. Anyways. We're going back into that facility." "Wha- With that THING?" "Yes. That 'THING'. The syringes I shot at him provided a tranquilizer that would last for 3 or so cycles. He can resist that, but he won't have the strength to attack. Just to run, and barely. You might not know this, but your kind is one of the only kind that can kill the Rot." "I barely got saved from that thing by you guys, and you're going to bring me back there? What the fuck!?" "It's either that or die knowing that you could've saved the world." 

[The two stared in silence, Techno staring, as if he was waiting for the inevitable, and Loon contemplating who Tech had become.]

"You've changed, Tech." "Indeed, I can do what needs to be done."

[The two entered the facility at the same place they left and followed a trail of blood, likely from the bite that Ivy inflicted on the corpse. They soon found the unconscious creature and approached it. Techno spoke in a low whisper.] 

"Now, touching the rot with bare skin would typically infect you, but with your crystalization, you should be able to punch right into it, and absorb it entirely. The only downside is you might have trouble taking a shit for an hour." 

[Loon sighed, and reluctantly crystalized his arm, punching straight into the corpse's chest, which alerted the beast, making it open its "eyes" and scream. Loon resisted the temptation of fear, which told him to back out, but instead absorbed the creature, bit by bit, until the screaming had ceased.] 

"What... What the fuck?! Did I just EAT that thing!?" "Yeah. So the test was a success. Just a question, you wouldn't happen to shed those crystals, would you?" "Sometimes, why?" "If we obtain even one of those shards, we can make a sort of 'Rot Removal Tool', or RRT, to eliminate Rot entirely." "Huh... So you want me to give you a shard to fix a worldwide problem?" "Pretty much." "Sign me up, I can give you one right now! It doesn't hurt if I rip one off. It grows back next cycle anyway." "Oh- Well alright then." 

[Tech opened a monitor again and sent a message to Five Pebbles again. It read: 'Test success, Shard obtained, heading back to the chamber now.']
