Daniel's POV

I reached the restaurant by 3 p.m. I was very nervous to meet Mia again after two months. I last saw her. I dressed and bathed especially today because I had been smelling of whisky for the past few weeks. I just hope this goes well.

I was arranging things as per Alex's instructions when she stepped out of her cab and came inside the restaurant. She was ordering people around where to keep what and all that. She had not yet noticed me, but she was all that I could see.

When she saw me, she froze and looked at me. Now or never, Daniel, just go to her.

She said, "You've got to be kidding me" after seeing me.

"Listen, I don't want to upset you. I'm just here because Alex asked," I said, sensing her tone and not wanting to upset or anger her.

"Yeah, me too. But since you're here, I think you can manage it because I am leaving," she said, irritated.

"Wait, let's not ruin it because of me. Alex is doing this for Sarah, and I think you too want her to have a special night. So, why not just work together on this for Sarah?" I knew she was not going to leave Sarah because she cared for her too much.

I know I'm a bad person for using Sarah's name to stop Mia, but I really want to try one last time with her, and I don't want her to leave me. I'll apologise to Sarah later.

"Fine, but you'll not interfere in my work, not talk to me, and do your work maintaining your distance. Done?" she raised her eyebrows.

"Okay," I said, excited. If I get to be in her presence, I would agree to anything, even selling my soul to the devil..

We worked in sync and silence between us, just ordering the staff to set up the things as Alex instructed. We were a great team that completed and understood what others wanted to say before they even said it.

When everything was done, it was already 8 p.m., and Alex would be here any moment. Mia was ordering her cab. Then I took her cell from her hands. "Hey, what the heck?" she said angrily.

"Mia, let me drop you. It's late, and there are no cabs in this neighbourhood at this time," I said, concerned.

"No thanks, I'll manage. Didn't I tell you to stay away?" she said dismissively.

"Mia, why are you doing this to me?" I asked, hurt. I want to know what I did wrong. Where did everything go wrong?

"What?" she said, confused.

"You know it very well, Mia. Just tell me why, and I'll leave," I asked, really desperate for my closure. I knew I needed her, but I wanted to know why she was avoiding me.

"I already told you, Daniel, you are nothing to me. Just leave me alone," she said, tiredness in her voice.

I was so hurt that I held her against the wall and held her hands by each side of her head, locking her from escaping.
