As Liam was about to take off his other shoe while on his bed, he paused when he heard Harmony say she was just thinking about him.
Even when she clarified that she didn't mean it that way, it only made him chuckle silently.
"Are you home now?" he asked, still holding onto the back of his shoe while leaning forward.
"Yes, I did," she replied from the other line.
"Larry told me."
"If you already knew, why did you ask?"
"I expected you to send me a message or something."
"You said you'd call me."
He sat upright after taking off his shoe, raising his eyebrows in satisfaction because of what he had just heard. "That means you were waiting for me to call you."
"Wait, I didn't mean it like that."
The more she tried to explain herself, the more he tried to convince her of his own personal assumption of what she meant since for him, it was more than amusing.
Just when he thought she was about to attempt clarifying what she meant once again, she instead asked about how it went with Ruby, instantly changing his mood. His smile faded as he ran a hand down his face.
"She had to leave for a photoshoot so we didn't talk at all. She's coming over soon," he said with a lack of enthusiasm.
"I see. I hope she helps you remember as much as she can."
"I don't think it works like that."
"But at least she knows you and I don't."
"I still feel more connected to you than to her."
The other line was silent for a while and he didn't bother to speak. He decided to wait for her response but just then, there was an incoming call popping up from the top of his screen and it was Justin. Larry had given him Justin's number so he already had it saved.
Only wanting to speak to Harmony, he looked to the side, deciding to call Justin later.
"I asked you a question," he said.
Before he could even tell her that he was waiting for her response, he received a message from Justin, saying that he needed to talk to him about something urgent.
He got up from his bed as he told Harmony to think about his question and he would expect an answer the moment he would call her back.
"Then I just won't pick up," she said.
"Oh you definitely will and you know it."
Right when she was talking, he cut the call, then called Justin back and it didn't take long for him to pick up.
"I'm on my way to your house right now," Justin said.
"Was that what you wanted to talk about?" Liam asked, regretting cutting the call with Harmony.
"It's about you taking that girl you're obsessed with, along with her friend, to the restaurant!"
Liam could sense the panic in Justin's voice and it was at that moment that he took him more seriously as he furrowed his eyebrows. "Did something happen? Her name's Harmony and her annoying friend, Blake."
"You have no idea the hell you just put me through with your father!" Justin said. "I shouldn't have left you alone."
"What?"
"I'm coming there right now," Justin said, then cut the call.
No matter how Liam looked at it, he couldn't see the problem.
