As Liam waited for Harmony to return to her seat, his eyes were glued to his phone, texting Cassie. She had texted him earlier but he had decided not to reply immediately since he only wanted his attention to be on Harmony.
In all of her texts, she couldn't stop asking questions about why their video chat had suddenly come to an end after she had heard a lady's voice in the background.
As he contemplated whether or not to tell her about Harmony, he only promised to explain himself when they would have their next video chat.
As soon as he sent her that message, he couldn't help but scoff at himself and his reaction when Harmony had first come out from the fitting room. He had already decided that he would get her as many outfits as possible just to see her in all types of classy fashion whenever they would be together.
When his phone beeped, he assumed it was Cassie's reply but instead, it was a message from his mother, asking if he was busy. With a sigh, he told her that he was, but just not at that moment.
As soon as he sent that message, she called. Since Harmony wasn't yet on her way back from the restroom, he decided to pick up. He was glad to hear from her and hoped they could have a little chat even if he hadn't yet warmed up to her.
"Mom," he said.
"Did Matthew Henderson get to speak to you?" she asked, her voice laced with panic.
"What?"
"Just answer me."
"No, he didn't."
"Good, Justin was right on time then with the security."
Before he could even ask about anything to do with Matthew Henderson, she hung up on him, causing him to scoff. She hadn't even asked if he was alright.
Not only was he disappointed, he was also far from satisfied, so he called Justin, demanding to know why his mother sounded the way she did.
He learned from Justin that Matthew Henderson wasn't just an ordinary paparazzi who harassed celebrities. At times, he would secretly take pictures of them in unusual situations then blackmail them.
Though he understood, he didn't see the need for his mother to panic. It wasn't as if he was in any situation that would lead to blackmail.
He expected Justin to right away agree with him, but instead, he was met with silence.
"Answer me. I'm not one of those people he could blackmail, right?"
"No, are you freaking crazy?" Justin said.
"Then there's nothing to worry about."
"Just be careful and whatever happens, don't ever let him personally talk to you. I'll send you pictures of what he looks like when he's shaved and when he's not!"
"What?"
After the beep, Liam scoffed, once again having to live by whatever was told to him. He wished to remember it all so he could be his own person and return to his regular life.
As he continued to wait for her, he began to wonder what was taking her so long. Just so he wouldn't sit still and do nothing, he looked down at his food and wondered if he could force himself to eat it.
As soon as he picked up his fork, he froze, a new memory flashing through his mind. He saw a pair of hands struggling to hold onto the steering wheel and characterized by panicked breathing. Though he couldn't explain it, he could feel the panic in that memory, causing his heart to begin racing at that moment.
This is....me.
Overwhelmed, he dropped his fork, leaned back and loosened his necktie. He thought he would actually suffocate. As more information from that memory flooded his mind, he heard himself crying. His head was suddenly in so much pain that he placed his hands on the sides of it. He groaned, the memory causing him to begin to sweat.
