This was fun to write.
There have been episodes like this on several shows, including "Franklin", "The Patty Duke Show", and "The Dick Van Dyke Show".
Nigel being allergic to Patrick came from all of those shows, but Patrick being afraid Nigel hates him came from Patty Duke.
In the episode of her show, Patty can't stop sneezing around Cathy and Cathy is afraid Patty hates her.
Eventually, it turns out Patty was allergic to this pin Cathy was wearing on her shirts.
