Chapter 16: Rescue Mission (2)

"On the 6th floor, huh?"

Mamoru said as he casually walked toward the entrance of the school with a naginata in hand, while Tsugimi decided to use another entrance where there are a minimal amount of zombies. Preparing to clear the way to give them a path of escape once rescue their targets. Leaving Mamoru alone as he breathed in. 

[See you on the 6th floor, Mamoru]

Tsugumi said as she disappeared from his line of sight. Making Mamoru nod his head before he walked towards a zombie that was standing in his path, causing him to stab it through the head with his naginata. Killing the zombie swiftly before he swung his blade to the side. Throwing the corpse of the zombie on the ground and continued to walk towards the entrance. Avoiding confrontation with those undead to avoid making too much noise and prevent himself from slowing down. 

[You're rather brave to act like that while surrounded by them, Mamoru]

Paula commented as she watched Mamoru enter the school building. Watching as he turned to the left and threw his naginata at a zombie blocking his way. Making its blade stab through the zombie's skull and brain before he passed through its dead body and pulled out his naginata. All without stopping his steps and never uttering a single word since he was sure that they would pounce on him if he spoke with the distance between them.

'Save your energy, Mamoru'

He thought to himself as he smacked a zombie in front of him on the cheek with the butt of his naginata and threw it against the wall. He then spun the blade around his body and stabbed through the head of another undead approaching him.

"Agh!"

A zombie growled as he heard a slight bit of noise from Mamoru's actions. Making him glance at Mamoru's direction and ran towards him with its arms reaching out in front of it, causing Mamoru to spin his body around while clenching the naginata with both hands. Cutting through the previous zombie's head as he rotated his body and slashed his sharp blade at the running undead. Slicing a deep laceration on the zombie's forehead, causing it to lifelessly fall on the ground.

"Hmm?"

Mamoru hummed as he grabbed his naginata by the collar and rotated his body around. Stabbing the blade in the head of the zombie that tried to attack him from the back. He then took a step back, turned his body around, and grabbed the naginata by the end. Swinging it behind him and throwing the dead body of the zombie towards another two undead who were walking towards him. Making them fall on the ground and get pinned by the heavy corpse, causing Mamoru to just pass by them and climb up the stairs.

"I should've spent more time at Rei's club"

He said as he grabbed the naginata like a javelin and threw it at the zombie at the top of the stairs. Skewering its brain through its right eye and pinning it against the wall. Making Mamoru carefully climb up and grab the pole of the naginata with his right hand. He then stepped on the zombie's head and began to pull out the blade from its head. 

[There are a lot of walkers on the 2nd floor, be careful]

Paula said, causing Mamoru to nod his head before grabbing a corpse by its head. Dragging it up to the second floor and began to look around. Noticing that there are more than a dozen undead walking around the floor. Not as many as the ones on the 1st floor, but due to the limited space. They were more concentrated in a specific area than the zombies on the first floor. 

"That should be good..."

Mamoru said as he threw the corpse at a group of zombies on the 2nd floor. Making them fall against the wall, momentarily immobilizing them as Mamoru passed through their group. He then climbed up the stairs leading to the third floor, which had a smaller number of undead within it. Allowing Mamoru to just ignore them and continue climbing up.
