Valera had taken her place beside Aslan.

The two valiant first rulers of Narnia were patiently awaiting the arrival of Jadis, the White Witch.

They were placed just outside of Aslan's tent, the entirety of the army they had collected at their camp were lined up down the sides ahead of them.

Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy were all stood down to Valera's right side.

The sky had remained grey, reflecting Valera's emotional state.

For when a sky is grey, one is unsure of what will follow.

Will it rain?

Will it snow?

Will the clouds depart in one area revealing the bright blue colour behind them?

It remained to be seen.

Just as Valera was awaiting the arrival of her sister.

"Calm yourself, my child", Aslan whispered to her as he looked up to the sky.

Valera simply let his gentle and soothing tone travel through her, the clouds above slowly retreating.

"Jadis! The Queen of Narnia! Empress of the Lone Islands!"

A yell from one of Jadis' followers echoed out.

It was soon shown that Aslan's camp was not a place to say such things.

"Get out of here, witch!"

"Go away!"

"You're not welcome here!"

"Disgrace to the crown!"

The yells of the Narnians counteracted those of Jadis' own followers.

Valera held her breath as a silver throne, held up into the air by two metal pipes being carried by two large ogres came into her view.

Sat on the throne was Jadis.

She hadn't changed since Valera had last seen her.

Her skin still icy and white as snow.

Her eyes still dark and full of evil.

Beside Valera, she heard Aslan growl ever so faintly which made the hairs on her body stand still whilst her own fists clenched.

Jadis didn't blink.

She didn't remove her eyes from Valera's once.

Not even when her throne was lowered a few steps ahead of both rulers of Narnia and she stepped off to stand tall.

Valera was the first to break her eyes from her sister's.

It was for two reasons.

The first was to glance over to the Pevensies.

All four of them were staring at the White Witch in total fear, Edmunds shining through the most.

The second was because as she looked into her sister's eyes, she saw the eyes of Lilith and Saida looking back at her.

It made her feel the guilt she had felt for years.

The guilt that she had abandoned them, even though they were the ones to let her go, to keep her safe.

Jadis could do that to her.

To make her feel all the worst things and think them too.

All with a glance.

Valera turned back to face her sister, who was now standing closer to her.

It was the closest she had been in over a century.
