DIFFERENT

Why is it that all we see in each other is difference?
We look at others and start playing favourites.
Brand those we find different as outcasts;
Habit as old as time, it begins in the past.
Difference in colour and race, that's where it all starts;
I need to voice it out, let me quench this thirst.

You are probably blind if you only see black and white,
Your overflowing pride is breaking humankind apart.
My looks should not elucidate my personality,
Do not judge me, do not belittle my capability.
It is not a threat, I just want this war to be over;
But you are quick to judge a book by its unique cover.
Look at what's inside, read the book, open the pages first;
Discover what is hidden, take your time, do not judge fast.

Inability is not resulted by disability;
Don't be so sure, do not put my life in probability.
What you can do, I assure, I can do better;
You may walk on twos, but I can go further.
You mock and insult me just because you were lucky enough,
Remember nothing lasts forever; it may all go away in a puff.

Religion claims we are made by one Creator,
But our differences are what define us, what make us stronger.
Close your eyes, turn around and see worldwide beautiful;
Start with self, make a change, make the world peaceful.
Set aside your differences and let a new era be born,
There is still hope, in the dirt, we'll dig up some gold.
Let us come together and say it loud and proud,
"We are one; deep inside, WE ARE ONE!"
