'It's a new day at work...' you say to yourself in your head. Your shift has just started and you already want to just take off your apron and leave.
You have been working at this cafe for almost a year, and you're tired of it every single day.. but it's alright. You need the money anyway.
'Welcome!!' you announce as the doors of the cafe opened.
.....
5-6 hours later, you sit down at a table nearby, scrolling on your phone. There haven't been any customers for almost an hour and you and your co worker, Haerin, start to get really frustrated.
'Hey...' she says in a grainy voice. 'Where have all the customers gone? It's almost been a full hour since we had our last customer!?'
'Relax, Haerin. It's fine, someone will show up-'

The bell at the door chimed. You and Haerin sat bolt upright and Haerin ran towards the counter, while you took position by the barista.
'Hey, can I have a caramel latte?' a deep but high pitched voice requests.
'Sure, right away. What size do you want.....'
Haerin's voice trails off as you start thinking... 'where do I recognise this voice..'

It's KIM MINJAE. The star football captain in your high school football team. Your jaw drops to the ground. Why is he so attractive-

'Hey, hey y/n! Can you hear me? Our customer is waiting!'
You glance over to see the cold but warm look on Minjae's face, half-covered by a baseball cap.
'Ah, yes.... right away. Sorry for any inconveniences.' you bow to him. He slightly bows back.

You prepare his drink in a rush, scared that he will do something bad, like either scold you or give the cafe a bad review. You hand the drink to Haerin and take a deep breath. Minjae used to scold everyone, especially your netball team, if they did the simplest thing to annoy him, especially his teammates in football. Well, sometimes he was quite shy and warm towards you, for some reason. The popular girls got jealous, but there are other boys. You never thought much of why he acted this way, but....

'Hey, can we talk for a sec..' he grabs your hand and walks out of the cafe doors, the bell chiming once again.
'But.. who's going to make your drink-'

Before you can finish, you're outside, face to face with your old rival.

'What are we doing out here?!'
'Shhhhh...' Minjae says, while doing shushing your lips. He leans in closer....
'Woah woah woah, wait a minute..' you're at a loss for words. Why is he trying to kiss you all of a sudden?-
'I like you, Y/N.' these words leave you in even more shock. 'I've liked you ever since our senior years in high school. When I was being rude to you and scolding you, i just didn't want to ruin my image... i would have been nicer. And yes, I've been keeping this for a long time. I was worried that if I confessed to you, my friends would leave me, and I'd be looked down on...'

You are shocked. The most popular boy at school... the football captain... wanted to date you?
'It's ok.. but you should have told me about it sooner.' you stare at each other.
He holds your waist, and your lips touch. It feels so weird to suddenly be kissing someone who you thought used to hate you.
When you both pull away, he smiles.
'Come on, I need to get my drink now...' he holds your hand again and walks back into the cafe.
Haerin was watching all this time... she is very confused but happy for you. She giggles.

He gets his drink and leaves. While leaving, he slips a note into your apron pocket and winks. He leaves swiftly without turning back.
You open the note, and realise it's his number. Underneath writes, 'call me, y/n.'

'What was that about, huh?...' Haerin asks, looking confused but serious.
