Miles sighed as he exited the building. The cars passing by were noisy but his thoughts were drowned with something else.

'Soren Chandler was a sponsored child?' He asked himself.

Not once did he ever expect that someone who was rumored to have the backing of the god of wealth would come from such humble origin. Was it humble origin to begin with? No, Soren was literally homeless when he was seven.

'But brother? He had a brother?' That was another mystery too because the public knew Soren did not have any siblings.

But considering that no one even knows anything about his family as they are as elusive as vampires in broad daylight, it was normal that no one would acknowledge Soren even has a brother.

There were tons of questions running in his mind right now and the last thing he wanted to think of was Seven.

His phone had been ringing since earlier and in the middle of the interview, he had to shut it down because it kept on interrupting Soren's narrative.

As he crossed the pedestrian, Miles' thoughts went back to the interview he had with Soren. There were a few things he was trying to conclude.

Soren said that the couple who sponsored him and his brother were of mixed nationalities. The lady was Korean and the man was Russian. Miles' mind then went to the interaction he had with Kael Cavallero earlier.

Was that child Kael? It most likely was.

Kael's features gave it straight away. The man looked like he came out from a fantasy book as the protagonist who had a fair complexion and immense beauty that made the gods fall for him.

However, the biggest question mark in his head right now was the reason why the couple sponsored Soren and his brother.

'They said their work dealt with dangerous people, right?' He aimlessly walked the streets that led to his apartment.

He could've taken a cab but he wanted to let his thoughts run for now.

Walking had always been Miles' favorite thing to do whenever his head was clouded with his ideas about certain things. Sure, his apartment was quite far from Soren's place but there's no harm walking once in a while.

'Perhaps the couple's work was related with law?' He hummed. It's common knowledge that people who work in law oftentimes make a lot of enemies. Policemen, lawyers, judges, and the likes are individuals who are risking their lives daily from those who have bad intentions in the world.

However, another thing crossed his mind.

"In Soren's narrative, one statement made by the man was that if they do not agree with the sponsorship for the first business, they would inherit the legal businesses..." His eyes widened when he started to piece together the puzzle even though it was just the first interview.

'Could it be?' Miles did not want to acknowledge the thought but it has a high possibility especially now that the statements were linking together like spiderwebs.

It couldn't be, right?

There was no way someone like Soren Chandler would be associated with...

Beep!

Miles jumped when the loud noise of a car beeping beside him echoed like a gunshot in thin air. He angrily looked at the source and saw a vehicle driving beside him. It was slow as if it was matching the pace Miles was walking.

"What's wrong with you?!" He asked but did not bother stop walking.

The driver then lowered the window and he glared when he saw who was inside.

"Baby, come talk with me, please!" the man inside called and Miles had to cover his face as he cringed so hard at the nickname. He quickened his pace as he was nearing his apartment but so did the car.

"Miles! Talk to me, please!" the man begged again but the journalist had his ears shut off.

He did not want to deal with any additional burden aside from his project with Soren Chandler and Seven. His plate was already full of bullshit and one more would make it overflow.

Miles did not want that to happen. He was exhausted as it is already and having this person bother him again displeased him to no end.

Eventually, the car stopped as it was causing traffic and it parked in front of a shop. The man got out and ran after Miles who took the chance of the former parking to run away like a track star and as if his life depended on it. But to no avail, Miles' steps were shorter than the ones chasing after him.

The man grabbed Miles' shoulder and forcefully turned his body to face him.

"What?!" He angrily spoke while slapping the hand away.

"You've been ignoring my calls! I can't reach you!"

"And whose fault is that?!"

"I said I'm sorry, Miles."

"I don't care!" He was a grain of rice away from punching this man's face and if it weren't for the bystanders that were accumulating around them like crows waiting for the results of war, he wouldn't stop himself.

"Please, Miles. Talk to me. I'm sorry-"

"Help! Please help me! He's hurting me!" Miles fake called to the bystanders and little by little, those who were concerned with what was happening between the two men immediately started getting near them.

"Wha-"

"Let go!" Miles pushed off one last time before he took off running.

"Miles-" the man tried to call but he was interrupted with the concerned bystraders cornering him and inquiring him about what happened because of Miles' outburst.

When he was at a considerable distance, Miles stopped moving and breathed heavily. His face was distorted into anger and his breaths were quick.

"What a good reason to destroy my day!" He yelled and threw his hands in the air.

---

"Kael?" Soren knocked on the door of the room Kael was staying at.

A few seconds later, it opened and revealed the man behind. Kael looked at him with a raised eyebrow. "What?" He asked and even placed his hands on his hips.

'So sassy,' Soren looked away as his face slightly flushed. Good thing it was quite dim or else it would've been evident.

"Did you have breakfast already? Sorry the interview took longer than expected."

Shaking his head, Kael scratched the back of his head as he yawned.

"I haven't yet. Besides, it's almost noon."

"Want to have brunch with me?" Soren offered as he took a step closer to the door and leaned on the doorframe. Kael instinctively took a step back as he glared at Soren before turning his back on the actor.

"Sure."

"You haven't prepared yet."

"Thanks for the info, Captain Obvious." Kael walked back inside the room and he rummaged through the luggage he had brought with him the other day and bringing a shirt out. Soren watched with observant eyes as Kael wore the shirt.

The muscles on his back flexing as he did so.

"It's like the world's ending with how you stare at me, Captain Obvious," Kael pointed out while fixing his hair in front of the mirror.

"It would if you won't sleep with me."

Kael stopped what he was doing and stared at Soren from the reflection of the mirror.

"I would sleep with you if you aren't Soren Chandler."

"But I am Soren Chandler."

"Exactly."

After fixing his unruly hair, Kael treaded to the door but before reaching it, he paused to grab his wallet which Soren interrupted by grabbing his hand and pulling him out.

"Soren!"

"Let's go. I'm hungry."

"My wallet!"

"It's my treat."

"What?! Hey! Stop pulling me-" Kael stopped resisting when Soren pushed him to a wall and caged his head with the man's arms.

Soren's eyes went to the former's lips and he gulped.

"Get off!" Kael pushed him away but Soren remained tough. He almost let go with how strong Kael was but he was no slacker when it came to his body and strength as well.

"Let me do things for you, Kael," he whispered.

"I don't need-"

"Yes, but your dad needs me."

"You..."

"I won't do what he wants me to do unless you let me do what I want to do for you."

After that statement, Kael got silent. He looked away as he rolled his eyes. Soren was as persistent as ever. Heck, he wasn't even like this when they were younger.

"Do we have an agreement, hyung?" The name made Kael's eyebrows furrow but nonetheless, he nodded his head and Soren smiled before letting him go.

"What do you want to eat?"

"..."

"Come on now."

"Something Japanese."

"Alright. I know a good Japanese restaurant."
