EXTENDED SUMMARY

|  000. SEVEN YEARS AGO, if you were to tell Valerie that just after her sixth birthday, her father would pass and she would somehow find her way to a weird, invisible-to-the-mortal-eye camp for the children of greek gods, she probably would have cried.

I MEAN, WHAT seven year old would want to know that in only eight months her entire life would be torn apart because of her other absent parent? Either way, that's what happened.

VALERIE DIDN'T REALLY remember all the details about what happened. Mainly just the long and flat bleeeep, the twisted ankle, and the man with a goatee and really hairy legs. Days after she got to Camp Half-Blood, things started to clear up again. She remembered perfectly the first time she shot an arrow. It was a bullseye, and right after the symbol of Apollo glowed above her head. Her other father.

BUT VALERIE DIDN'T want this other father. Not with his power, and greatness. She wanted her dad. The one who would comfort her when she had a nightmare, or make her pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream every Sunday morning, or walk with her to school, carrying her bag for her. That was the man she wanted as her dad. Not the god. She wanted the one that was actually there.

EXCEPT THE WORLD didn't care for what she wanted. The world was cruel, and showed people like Valerie no mercy. The world didn't bring many people into her life. She had lost more than she had gained. But suddenly, there was a new addition to the people she had gained. And his name was Perseus Jackson. The insufferable, arrogant, cocky, sarcastic son of Poseidon. At least, that's what Valerie thought of him. She did like his eyes, though. They reminded her of the ocean, and as much as she hated the ocean, she thought his ocean irises were pretty cool.

BUT HE AND his annoyingly beautiful eyes turned out to be trouble. Now, Valerie is on a quest with Percy, Annabeth, and Grover to restore the lightning bolt back in Zeus' hands before he brings about World War III. No pressure, right?
