Chapter four

𝙤𝙘𝙩𝙤𝙗𝙚𝙧 7𝙩𝙝 ,2000

Today was Hitomi's first birthday. She grew a lot and went out almost every day now, she befriended the snake and named him chompers. Her vocabulary has improved drastically ever since her teeth started to show and now she could form complete sentences.

4 months ago she started to walk and was able to run now. The nurses who tended to her as baby were gone now though, they either got a job promotion and went to the hospital in the inner city, had their own children or they simply found better jobs.

But today wasn't about that, it was about Hitomi. She currently sat inside her bed and waited to see if her family would come that day. No one ever had visited her and she felt so excited about meeting the people she would call mama and papa.

But as time passed by she became impatient and walked away to the play room where she found a nurse watching over the other kids who's parents weren't there in the morning care.  "Nanny?" Hitomi called to the woman who smiled at her.

"What is it little birthday girl?" She asked in a cheerful voice. "Why does my mama and dada not come hewe?" Her eyes held sadness but her face held more of a wondering look as she gazed at the woman.

She was wearing the pink cape that every little girl would get on their birthdays in that hospital as the woman only patted her head. "Don't worry! I'm sure they'll come later !" She said, knowing the baby's parents weren't even known or alive. Well her siblings and mother were still known but the mother was dead since the day she was born.

...

In the afternoon no one showed up.. all Hitomi did was sit lonely in the backyard, which was fended up as she cried to herself. "Does no people love Hitomi?" She questioned No on as she simply looked at the ground with empty eyes.

That's when she heard a hissing noise coming from the nearest bush so he waddled over,knowing it was chompers. "Chompers! You hewe for Hitomi's birthday?" She questioned the large animal who couldn't understand but hissed happily anyways.

It bend it tail a little and started to let the back side of his tail appear... holding a small plushy. He didn't know where it came but he saw it lying on the street when he was hunting for food yesterday and simply picked it up for Hitomi.

"Thant you!" The little girl smiled at the large snake who just hissed again. Finally I have an own super cool toy and it's from choppy too! Hitomi thought as she reached for the bear.

She started playing with it and her snake, eventually naming the plushy Alice ,like one of the idols she saw on tv when she was watching. Together the snake and her somehow made a weird combo between singing, screeching and hissing as Hitomi jumped around with the help of chompers who easily held her up with the help of his tail.

In the end she pressed her face against the stuffed animal, squishing her cheeks against it as she giggled.

Soon it was then time to depart and she left the stuffed toy with the snake who would hold onto it for her as she went back inside and then was escorted to go back to her room and then eventually to bed.

All that time her eyes remained dull... 'cause she'd only truely smile for the people she loved...
