"Your marriage partner has been decided."

Those are the first words that Karlyle Frost hears upon arriving at the mansion after receiving his grandfather's call. For a greeting to his grandson who spent 8 hours traveling from Qatar to London, it's a bit too harsh. After a careful knock, Karlyle opened the door and was about to say hello when he was shut off by those words. The fatigue that has been building up from the long trip slightly passes through the back of his neck.

"How have you been, grandfather?"

Turning a blind eye to the rising fatigue, Karlyle greets his grandfather. At his formal voice, his grandfather finally raises his eyes. Not a single expression is spotted on his cold face. Even though this sight is no strange thing, Karlyle's throat feels especially choked up today. Maybe it's because of what he just heard.

......That his fiance has been chosen.

Karlyle ponders that sentence in his mind. This is something he's prepared for all his life growing up as a member of the Marquis Frost family. Although he knew that his partner would be chosen whenever the time came, it feels strange when it becomes reality. To be more accurate, it doesn't feel like it's truly happening..

He wonders for a moment who the other person is, but soon, he realizes that it doesn't matter. His grandfather must have chosen someone that can be beneficial for him. It must be an aristocrat Omega who would help with his family's revival. Maybe he has met that person at a social gathering, or it's someone he has heard about.

Perhaps he has sensed Karlyle's thoughts, his grandfather gets straight to the point, ignoring his greeting. He glances at Karlyle, then he says.

"You should be grateful to be given a good partner."

Karlyle lowers his stoic face. If that's what his grandfather said, it's true then. Of course it's true. Karlyle Frost isn't anyone special in the aristocratic world. Born as the grandson of Arthur Frost, except for the advantages of being a member of a Marquis family and having a place in his parents' business, Karlyle has no values. He's just a mere Alpha.

Dominant Alpha, which accounts for only 1% of the world's population, mainly appears in the bloodline of aristocrats in England. It is considered a natural trait among English nobles. Dominant Alphas are incomparably superior to normal Alphas in every aspect and are essential for the revival of a family. And nobles are obsessed with preserving that trait.

It may sound strange in modern times where the class system has disappeared, in England, it's a natural thing. At least that's the case in Karlyle's world.

Due to their obsession with bloodline, the marriage of nobles is centered on marriage that can give birth to dominant Alphas. A good partner should be like this: someone from a family with a dominant Alpha, or a prestigious family that has produced dominant Alphas for generations.

His grandfather, Arthur Frost, has revived the family as a dominant Alpha, but the only daughter he has with his wife is just an Alpha. On top of that, she met and married a commoner Alpha, not an Omega. His grandfather must have thought that the title Marquis Frost would be dead.

Then his mother got pregnant. This was also very unusual as Alphas generally weren't able to conceive regardless of gender. It wasn't entirely impossible, but his mother's pregnancy became a hot topic because of its rarity.

In conservative social circles, rumors and gossip went everywhere. His grandfather endured that shame with only the anticipation of Karlyle's trait. But unfortunately, he was born as a normal Alpha. And that made his grandfather furious. Fortunately, the second child, his lovely brother Kyle, is a dominant Alpha so his grandfather's anger towards his parents died down. But it did not change Karlyle's value. Although he's the eldest son, he's just an Alpha who cannot lead the family. That's who Karlyle Frost is.
