It's time

Two months later.

"Call salim quickly go!"
" Mother!"
" Madhuri keep breathing! It's okay , everything is fine. He is coming."
" It's hurting too much! "
" It's time madhuri. I have already called the women to help. They have arrived. "
" I - I am so "
" Madhuri don't be nervous, everything would be alright."
Salim came rushing as soon as he could.
" Madhu, I am here!" He immediately went towards her and held her hand.
" It's time Salim."
" Oh ! Madhu breath, I am there with you !"
" Bring water ladies . Are the cloths ready? " His mother asked.
" Everything is ready your honour."
" Good , please do the needful."
" Yes "
" Salim!"
" Madhu! I am here! Mother she is in lots of pain!"
" I know Salim this is how it's suppose to happen. "
" My dear Madhuri! I can't look at her in pain."
She was screaming with pain.
" Salim please go out now , wait there, let us take it from here."
" Mother I want to stay here with her, she is in so much pain, I can't leave her like that "
" Salim it's not the time to argue, please stay out. Men are not allowed here."
" Please go?"
" Madhu, I am right here . Don't worry, don't be scared."

As he went out, the other women close the door. His father came at the door. He saw Salim walking back and forth near the door impatiently.
" Salim"
" Father?"
" You should be calm, if you are this tense , she will be more worried."
" But father, it's so "
" Bad right? I have went through it ."
" What did you do?"
" I was praying."
" How can you be so tough?"
" I made myself that tough. You will learn eventually. "
He heard her screaming . He started banging at the doors ,
" What happened?! Mother! Madhu! What happened?! Is everything okay?"
" Salim! Come back! Don't panic . She is giving birth, it's not that easy."
" I can't , I can't."
" Stay strong son. If you are not strong who is she supposed to look at?"
He paused for a second and looked at his father.
" I know that, but she is in there screaming with pain and I am here standing helpless. I wish I could take that pain away from her."
" Be tough son, kings are always tough."

That's when some lady came out .
" What's going on , can I come in?"
" Sorry your honour, but -"
" What ?! "
" The baby is coming out but -"
" But what?! "
" The queen is tired. She is not pushing."
" What?! Madhu!"
" Can you please motivate her? She is not able to listen to us."
He rushed in .
" Talk to her son, tell her that everything is going to alright. She won't believe us here but she will believe you."
" Madhu! Madhu! Look at me , open your eyes!"
" Our baby is coming, bring him out! Madhu open your eyes, it's me ."
She slowly opened her eyes.
" Salim I - I can't"
She was all sweaty and teary. He took a wet cloth and placed it on her head.
" Salim". She cried.
" Come on madhu! You are a fighter. Do it . I am with you. "
He holded her hand.
" Madhu ! Push! You can do it. You are my girl , Do it! We don't give up like that!"
She looked at him and he reassured her with his eyes .
" Push!"
" Push"
" Push!"
" I can see the head "
" Good madhu, very good!"
She smiled a little. She was breathing heavily.
" Madhu, breath in and out. Don't stop. Come on, a little bit more!"
Little by little the baby started to come out.
" The hands are out."
" Keep going"
" And now the legs."
They cut the cord .

" It's a boy!"
Salim shouted with joy .
" You did it Madhu!"
She smiled.
" You are a literal goddess, not only you but all these women "
The lady very delicately gave the baby boy in madhuri's arms.
" I told you right? It's a boy."
" You did."
" My little Salim!" They both laughed.
His mother and father looked at them fondly.
" Look at his little hands!" She said to Salim.
" I hope he has your eyes Madhu."

He kissed the baby and madhuri.

" Hey mate! Let's team up ."
" Salim, he is sleeping. "
" I know but he looks so cute I can't wait."
" I know right. "
" Just look at him."
" He looks so like you Salim. There is a reason why I call him little Salim."
" He has your eyes though."
" You know I send sweets all over the kingdom." Salim said.
" You did?"
" Ofcourse, it's my son afterall."
She laughed.
" By the way , how are you?"
" I am okay, it will take days to be normal again ."
" Okay. I have to do a thing."
" What?"
He came towards her and bowed towards her.
" What are you doing?"
" Madhuri you are great . You are a warrior. I love you and I respect you so much. Thank you for giving me the best gift of a lifetime."
They hugged.
" I will go and meet my mother, I want to thank her too!"
" Sure!"

He kissed her forehead with all the love and affection.
" I love you".
" I love you too!"
