Chapter One
Deadly Weapons
The polished marble gleamed under the chandelier’s soft lighting, the diamonds of the chandelier slightly swaying, glimmering. The people who were clearly of high social status were enjoying themselves, sipping either wine or champagne, quietly conversing with the others. The middle of the room was made of smooth polished wood meant for dancing and in one corner of the room was an orchestra playing, hired for that very occasion.
The spacious room was filled with round tables which could seat eight people per table, draped with flowing luscious brown silk, on which were porcelain plates and silver cutleries, champagne and wine glasses on either side of the porcelain plates.
The room had high ceilings in the color of muted royal blue, the walls painted the same color. Large windows were on almost every wall, covered by long and flowing gold curtains. Near the back of the room was a majestic brown staircase that had polished banisters and shiny steps.
Conversation filled the room, along with the sounds of knives and forks, an indication that the people were eating the delicious food that the best of chefs had prepared for that very occasion. Waiters in standard black and white uniform carried bottles of wine and champagne, refilling the glass of each guest at every table.
The orchestra kept playing softly, its violins creating a harmonious sound so pleasing to the ears.
Audible chitchat reached Reini’s ears as she walked alongside Eena, her head held high. She had a flowing emerald green gown that had shown ample cleavage, a short trail flowing behind her as she walked. Her five inch silver heels clicked on the polished marble, loud enough to be heard by her but not loud enough to be heard through the conversations that were being held left and right. The dress showed off her beautiful figure and the heels gave the illusion that she was tall. Her matching pearl necklace and earrings matched perfectly with the gown she was wearing, the necklace long enough to reach her chest in such an elegant manner. She had a thin silver chain with expensive diamonds as her bracelet, accentuating the delicateness of her figure. She was holding a purse with green silk and her hair was styled accordingly, curled and pinned halfway, making her look like royalty. Adorning her face was a beautifully styled green masquerade mask, designed with pearls and silk. The mask had a connecting stick wrapped in varying shades of green silks. She was holding the stick in a poised manner, wanting to give off the vibe that she was royalty instead of just pretending to be one.
There was once a time when she felt like royalty.
She shook her head and took a deep breath, willing herself to forget about the past and to forget about Samuel.
He would have moved on by now.
She took another confident step forward.
Eena was wearing a rich purple gown made of silk and satin, showing off her hourglass figure. She had on a simple necklace with a diamond in the center of the silver chain and diamond earrings which moved with every step she took. She had silver five inch heels which shined slightly under the soft lighting of the chandelier, and she was holding a silver purse with intricate lacework. Her gown was ankle-length, purple satin decorating her waist. On her face was an elegant lavender and dark violet mask with lilac lace on the edges of the mask and fake amethysts sewn. Like Reini’s, her mask had a connecting stick only this time, the stick was covered in dark violet silk and had some fake amethysts sewn into the silk.
Eena walked with confidence, looking at the other guests. “Oh Europe,” she muttered, sighing, “I missed you.”
Reini laughed softly. “So this is what you so love?”
