"y/n, are you okay?" itami whispered, concern etched across her face.

i tore my gaze away from suna and nodded. "yeah, i'm fine. just... a bit surprised to see suna like that."

she followed my gaze and raised an eyebrow. "yeah, that's... unusual for him."

before i could respond, osamu chimed in, looking a bit skeptical. "you know, suna hasn't been himself lately. something's been bothering him, but he won't talk about it."

"maybe this is just his way of letting off some steam." kita added.

itami patted my shoulder reassuringly. "let's not dwell on it for now," she suggested. "we're here to enjoy ourselves, right?"

if only she knew.

as the night progressed, i did my best to immerse myself in the party atmosphere. itami and i danced, mingled with other guests, and even tried some of the delicious snacks that were being passed around. however, no matter how hard i tried to push it to the back of my mind, the image of suna with that girl remained.

after a while, i excused myself to get some fresh air on the balcony. the cool breeze helped clear my head, but it also gave me a moment to reflect on everything. itami was right; we were here to enjoy ourselves, and i didn't want to let suna's behavior cast a shadow over the evening.

just as i was about to head back inside, a familiar voice called out from behind me. "enjoying the view?"

i turned to find kuroo leaning against the door, a mischievous grin on his face. "kuroo," i said, genuinely surprised to see him. "what brings you here?"

he chuckled. "well, it's a party, and i heard there was going to be some great company."

i couldn't help but smile at his charming demeanor, knowing he was the one who invited me. "flattery will get you everywhere," i teased.

kuroo stepped closer, his gaze locking with mine. "i meant it," he said, his tone softening. "i'm really glad you came tonight."

his presence sent a rush of warmth through me, dispelling some of the unease i had felt earlier. his easygoing charm was like a balm for my nerves, and i found myself relaxing in his company.

"is everything okay?" it seemed my face was an open book, as it was clear i wasn't at my best.

"yeah!" i replied, but it came out too energetic, making my lie painfully obvious.

"you know, you don't have to stay here if you're not having a good time. we could go somewhere quieter, grab a drink, and catch up."

his offer was tempting, and part of me wanted to accept, to spend more time with him away from the crowded party. but the image of suna with that girl lingered in the back of my mind, and i hesitated.

just as i was about to respond, itami's voice interrupted us as she stepped onto the balcony. "there you are, y/n! i've been looking—oh."

"hello, you're y/n friend right? i remember you." kuroo smiled, but i couldn't help but notice the flicker of disappointment in his eyes as our moment was disrupted.

itami's smile had faded, and a sense of tension had taken its place. "yes, i'm itami," she replied, her tone slightly cold. kuroo nodded in acknowledgment. "they're about to start the round of games. are you joining?" she asked.

before i could say anything, he leaned in, stealing a quick but sweet kiss from my lips. it was unexpected, but not awkward, as if it were the most natural thing in the world. our lips parted, and he grinned mischievously.
