🔪 Numb 🔪

Hunter POV

Hunter wasn't feeling it today, everyone else was having so much fun in the human realm and yeah sure he felt more at home here, but he just couldn't shake the feeling that he was being watched. This feeling was so overwhelming that he began feeling numb, and he didn't like that feeling. It felt so unsettling to him that he would dig his nails into his arms just to make the numb feeling go away. This worked for a couple weeks, but then the numb feeling of being watched would overpower that small amount of pain. Digging into my skin wasn't working anymore and the numb feeling was tearing me inside out. The anxiety was so overwhelming sometimes he would find somewhere private and use his pocket knife to cut himself. 

This feeling of being watched was also extremely familiar to Hunter, too familiar. This was the way he felt in the castle, his every move watched by his Uncle. 

But Belos is dead now! Why do I have this feeling if he's gone! ARgGg WhY CaN'T I JuSt ShAkE ThIS FeElInG!! 

Hunter was in the basement laying on his mattress, the numb feeling was returning again and Hunter knew the drill. He walked out of the basement into the upstairs living room where Luz greeted him. 

"Hey Hunter!- Woah are you ok?" Luz had seen Hunter's eye bags, he hadn't been able to sleep last night because of the numbness. 

"Y-Yeah... I'm- just fine." Hunter walked past her and into the bathroom. 

He locked the bathroom and sat down on the floor burying his head into his legs preparing himself for another round of cutting. He pulled out his pocket knife and lifted up his sleeve, making a slice across his skin. It opened up all the old cuts, letting blood flow. Hunter made sure to have a paper towel underneath his arm so that the floor and his clothes would stay blood stain free. 

He made another cut and felt relief as the numbness went away. He made another cut, and another. He had found that making more cuts made the numbness go away for longer. 

Suddenly there was a knock on the door. 

"Hunter? You've been in there for a while and I'm starting to get worried..." 

Hunter hurriedly pulled his sleeve down and opened the door. "Yep all g-good!" He said with a voice crack. He saw Luz's face go ghost white as she looked past his shoulder. 

Fudge Titan I forgot to hide the knife!

Hunter quickly tried to close the door but Luz stuck her foot in stopping it. "Hunter... I-I-I..." She walked into the bathroom and sat down next to the knife and then looked up at Hunter. "W-Why..."

Hunter sat down next to her and sighed deciding to tell her. 

"Well I've been feeling this numbness lately and it never goes away... except for... for w-when I h-hurt m-myself. The p-pain is relieving... I feel like I'm being watched every day, It's the same numbness I had at the castle and I just want to... escape." 

Luz gave Hunter a hug. 

"Its ok... I know how it feels. I would cut myself just to get rid of the numbness I would have at school, because of all the b-bullying. I don't think my mom knew or noticed but she sat down with me one day and I got prescribed with pills to help with the numbness. If we talked to her, she could help you the same way she helped me." 

Hunter looked up at her with tears in his eyes. 

"You mean there are other ways to get rid of this than just... cutting myself? Less painful ways?"

"Yep, do you want to talk to my mom?" 

"Y-Yeah! Thank you Luz!" 

"No problem, its what family does for each other."
