Amity POV

"AMITY BLIGHT GET DOWN HERE!!!!" Amity heard her mother yell from downstairs. 

FUDGE! She found out about my A-!! CRAP!!

Amity ran downstairs and then stood silently in front of her mother. 

"Amity... would you like to explain to me why you have been failing your class?" Odalia said coldly. 

Amity stood there silently not knowing what to say. "I-I-I- I missed some questions on the latest math assignment... I'm sorry mother, i'll try to do better next time." 

"An 'i'll try' isn't good enough. Fix this assignment and make sure your grades won't drop again! Test season is also coming up and I want you to be in tip top shape for it, but if you're failing math you can't do well!! I want you to use all your free time studying and preparing, and if I find out you're not working I will take away your phone and all your other privileges." Odalia said, then she walked off leaving Amity alone. 

Amity sighed and went back up into her room. She pulled out the 97% assignment and began doing corrections. After she had finished she took out her phone and looked at her texts. 

None from Luz... Only Boscha and Cat.

Amity sighed disappointed and then sat up. She went and grabbed her text books and began studying for the school finals, which were in about a month. As it got later and later Amity got even more drowsy trying to stay awake to study. Eventually she fell asleep in her text book. 

In the morning (2 hours later rip)

Amity woke up to her mother walking into the room. 

"Why are you sleeping on your books?! You should be getting ready for school!! Get ready now!!" Then Odalia walked out and Amity slowly got up from her desk. She walked to the bathroom and got changed into her normal clothes and then went to brush her teeth but before she could Odalia yelled from downstairs. 

"AMITY!! COME ON!! I AM NOT EXCUSING YOU FOR BEING LATE!!!" 

Amity ran downstairs hurriedly grabbing her bag and getting into her mom's car. She hadn't had time to brush her hair and do her morning routine. Her mom pulled into the school and just like normal Amity was there one hour before school even started. 

"Go study in the library until your classes start." Then Odalia pulled away. 

Amity sighed and walked into the school's library, pulling out her books and other school work items. She began studying where she had left off and began feeling drowsy again from the lack of sleep. She tried slapping herself to stay awake but it didn't work very well. She groaned in annoyance and began rummaging in her back for her phone. Instead of pulling out her phone, her small pocket knife fell out. 

Crap! Why do I have this in my school bag! If I'm caught with a weapon i'll be killed or worse EXPELLED!! 

Then she got an idea on how to stay awake, it wasn't a very smart idea but it would work. She looked around to see if anyone was there, but like normal she was completely alone. So she dragged the knife along her arm, wincing at the pain. 

But the pain kept her awake, so she dug harder. Blood came out this time and Amity panicked, hoping she wouldn't get it on her clothes. She quickly grabbed some old bandages she kept in her backpack for emergencies and wrapped her arm up. The pain made her drowsiness go away and she continued studying. 

BRRRRRIIIIIIINNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGG!!!!

"Crap the bell!!" Amity jumped up and ran to math class, her first class of the day. This was her hardest class and she always despised going to it. Not to mention the teacher was despicable. 

"Ok class... The end of the school year is coming around and you being my high honors AP class I want no less than a 95% on the final or i'll have to move you down a class next year. Did everyone get that?" Mr. Wittebane announced receiving groans from the students. 

My mom will kill me if I get less than 100%.

The school day after that class went on as normal, except not as normal. Amity didn't eat lunch, because she was studying. Amity didn't drink water, because she was studying. Amity didn't do anything healthy, because she was studying. 

The finals were getting closer and Amity was getting more and more overwhelmed. She couldn't do anything to take care of herself, because she always thought that the time to do those things would be better for studying. To resist sleep she would continue cutting herself. And the cycle would repeat itself. 

The week before finals Amity was sitting by her desk trying to study but the words in the text book were swirling and going in and out of focus. Amity couldn't keep her mind straight and she could feel herself losing consciousness when a voice broke through her barrier. 

"Psssttt... Amity!! Up here!!" Luz whispered tapping on Amity's window. Amity opened the window and let Luz inside. 

"Luz? How'd you get up here? My mom is gonna kill you if she finds out you're here!" Amity hissed. Luz just playfully shoved her making her lose balance. 

"Naaaaaaaaaa she won't. Also your tree is really tall." Luz said playfully while Amity laughed. As Amity laughed her vision got blurry again and her head got all fuzzy. 

"Amity? You good?" Luz asked as Amity just kept on laughing. She kept laughing and then she started stumbling. "L-Luz..." Then Amity passed out into Luz's arms. 

"Amity!" Luz picked up Amity bridal style and brought her over to her bed. She laid Amity down and then listened frantically for a heartbeat. "Crap... Crap! Amity..." She began shaking the green-haired girl and slowly Amity began to regain consciousness. "Amity!! Oh thank goodness!" 

Amity sat up and groaned grabbing her head. "Owwwwww... My head hurts." Luz leaned over and was really close to Amity's face. "You good?" Amity jumped up in suprise. "Ah! Luz!" 

"Oops! Sorry Amity!!" Luz scooted back a little bit. "What happened?" Amity asked still rubbing her head. "You ummm... passed out." Luz said heisitantly. Amity looked away embarrassed, her face turning bright red. 

"Sorry." 

"Don't say sorry!" 

"Sorry!!"

"Don't say it!!" Luz said playfully grabbing Amity's hand. "Do you have any idea why you passed out?" 

Amity looked away again and the knife she had left on her desk caught her eye. 

Should I tell her? 

Luz followed her gaze and saw the knife. "Amity?" She walked over to the desk and grabbed the knife then she came back over to the bed. "H-Have y-you been..." 

Amity sighed and then buried her face into Luz's shoulder. "I-I'm s-sorry, I've just been under so much pressure from my mom and teachers to do well on my finals I've stopped taking care of myself. I haven't eaten very much and I haven't slept more than 1 hour every night. I used the knife t-to g-give myself p-pain so I-I wouldn't fall asleep..." Luz gave Amity a big hug. 

"Hey... its ok. I'm here for you. Do you wanna sneak out and go to a cafe to grab something for you to eat?" Amity smiled and hugged Luz. 

"Yeah... That sounds great."
