Raine POV
Raine sat at their desk, staring into well... nothing. They felt empty. Like nothing was motivating them anymore. They had just become the head of the bard coven and for some reason, it felt wrong like they didn't belong there, like they were missing something or someone.
A knock on the door.
"Come in."
Darius walked in with an unreadable expression on his face. "You've seemed off since your ceremony. You good?"
Raine sighed and rested their head on their hands. "Honestly no."
"What's going on." Darius plopped himself down on a chair next to the bard coven head.
"Nothing. It's not too big of a deal." Raine let out a sigh and rubbed their eyes a bit.
"We'll its clearly not nothing if it's stressing you out this much, but if you don't feel like talking then I'll leave." Darius started to stand up but Raine grabbed his wrist.
"I'll talk, I just don't know if you're the right person."
"And what makes me the wrong person?"
"You could report me to the Emporer, uh get me in jail or worse, trapped in stone."
"I don't give a crap about the Emporer, his system is shit. Eberwolf agrees with me."
"Oh well, I guess you are the right person."
"Good."
Darius sat back down and crossed his legs.
"I'm waiting."
"Oh sorry. Well, the thing is, I've been doing lots of research since becoming the head of the bard coven, and like you said the system makes no sense. It just makes me feel like something is going on that's bigger than all of us. The worst part is... that my ex-girlfriend Eda had seen this coming for months, maybe years and I gave her up for this shitty job." Raine rested their head on their hands again letting out a loud sigh. "I just regret everything."
"That is... a lot to handle. Have you tried talking to her yet?"
"No, because I'm pretty sure she hates me." Raine looked like they were on the verge of tears. They looked up and saw a photo of them and Eda (see attached photo above), feeling guilty for not listening to her.
"She doesn't."
"How do you know that?" Raine sounded skeptical.
"Because I'm sure she'd understand. She probably went through everything you've been going through right now, finding out the government is corrupt and that our empower is shit. I'm sure she'd invite you with open arms."
"Maybe..."
Raine looked at the picture with some guilt, wishing they could reverse time.
"Just Maybe."
