Professor Sharp was not too happy about our absence. Sebastian and I explained everything that happened and, surprisingly, he gave us full credit for the assignment and took no house points away.

Perhaps he was just thankful two students didn't die on a task he sent us out on. He had us set the ingredients on his desk and then dismissed us.

Sebastian walked out of the classroom first. I lingered for a moment, wanting to let him walk ahead of me.

This entire day was weird. What started as a simple assignment turned into me saving Sebastian's life in the cave. The feelings between us were weird now.

We never really cared for one another. To be honest, I couldn't remember a single day where we were ever anything more than foes. Perhaps acquaintances in the beginning, but that all changed so quickly.

Now, for the first time, it felt like there was a shift. We were certainly not friends, but for some reason, I couldn't help but feel we weren't exactly enemies either.

Sebastian walked down the hallway outside the potions classroom. He kept his head forward, not once looking back. I could practically see the muscles outlined on his back through his wet shirt.

I felt my face turn warm as I forced myself to look elsewhere. I felt embarrassed as if I had been caught staring.

As I turned up the stairs, I lost Sebastian in the crowd of people that covered the central hall. I stood for a moment, almost searching for him. But for what reason?

Our assignment was finished. There was nothing more for us to discuss. Yet, I felt a longing to find him, talk to him. My eyes continued to scan the large room.

Just near the mermaid fountain in the middle of the hall, I noticed Matthias talking to Poppy. He had a concerned look on his face.

It wasn't until I noticed his concerned face that it even clicked. I was supposed to meet Matthias after potions class so we could work on arithmancy together. I told him I'd meet him by the mermaid fountain after class.

He was probably worried as it had now been nearly an hour past the time I originally told him I'd meet him. I took a deep breath, preparing myself for the explanation I would have to give.
