"It's what we do best, Y/n. Look at our timeline. It's all we have ever done."

Sebastian's words echoed through my mind. It had been a week since our argument. We had not spoken to each other once during that time.

I was avoiding him during class. We both needed time to figure things out. Sebastian had a point. All we ever seemed to do was argue. We couldn't get away from it.

Matthias wrote recently, but I didn't want to talk to him either. Honestly, I was not talking to many people at all. Life had been such an up-and-down journey recently, that I needed a break from it all.

I was sitting in the coastal vivarium with Poppy and Natty. We were listening to the waves while we dug our toes in the sand. It felt nice having the warm sun beaming over me, a vast difference from the cold outside of the castle.

"So, have you spoken to Sebastian yet?" Natty asked as she propped herself up a bit with her elbows.

I let my head hang back and closed my eyes, "Not yet."

"I hate how everything has turned out," said Poppy quietly while she pulled her knees up to her chest, wrapping her arms around them.

I looked down at the water in front of us. The way it seemed so calm, so serene until a wave would suddenly crash up against the rocks. It made me think of Sebastian. The way we could be so calm and then, suddenly, a crash.

My fingers traced the sand beside me. I made small movements, digging tiny holes while I felt the sand crawl under my fingernails.

"Maybe it's for the best. Maybe there's a reason it's not working out." I replied, keeping my eyes down on my fingers.

"You should at least talk to Sebastian," Natty sat up straight, looking at me, "before you give up completely. It sounds like it's just one big misunderstanding." She said as she kept her eyes on me.

I shrugged my shoulders. It was hard to see any of this being a misunderstanding. Sebastian said Elaine was there unannounced, but I saw how happy she looked. Even if it was unannounced, there was no need for their conversation to be that pleasant.
