Chapter 42- God Of Destruction

The smoke cleared as a chorus of cheers came from the Scouts that stood atop rooftops. They overlooked the Armored Titan, who had its nape blown open. Reiner's body was now visible, smoking and steaming. The whole top half of his head was missing, making him unrecognizable. The King Titan slumped forward and lowered its head as the nape steamed and opened up. Leon emerged, his Scout cloak now discarded and his eyes heavy with sadness. His brown orbs stared at his once-old friend, wondering if he was even still alive. The explosion was large, it'd kill any normal man, but this is a Titan shifter. They still didn't know the extent of their healing abilities.

Leon: (Thoughts) Reiner... You left us with no choice.

Scout 52: We did it! We blew that bastard's head off!

Scout 45: The Armored Titan just bit the dust! We sent him straight to hell.

Scout 54: Good riddance!

Jean: Ha... ha... We pulled it off. You were a serious pain in the ass for us. Serves you right! You scumbag!

The sound of Connie and Sasha crying caused Jean to pause and gasp. He looked down at his friends as they stared at Reiner with horrified, sad eyes. Jean gritted his teeth and grabbed the front of their cloaks, lifting them up.

Jean: What the hell are you crying for? Stop! Get up! We still have work to do! Don't cry for him! He would've done the same thing to us!

Leon stepped out of his evaporating Titan and used his ODM gear to make it over to the rooftops where Hanji, Mikasa, and Armin were standing.

Leon: Hanji, his body is still healing by the looks of it. He's still alive. I suggest we rip him out of his Titan and take him to Levi so we can transfer the power.

Hanji: No, we can't take the risk of Bertolt showing up and rescuing his friend. We have to end it here and now. (Shouting to the Scouts) This isn't over! We'll hit him with another volley, just to be sure.

Leon sighed and looked over to see Armin staring at Reiner with wide, shocked eyes. Mikasa behind them gasped softly before walking over and placing a comforting hand on Armin's shoulder.

Mikasa: You okay?

Armin: I guess so. It's not like we could negotiate. (Mikasa removed her hand from his shoulder as Armin continued) Their side has the knowledge. They make us look just as ignorant as we are weak. We don't have the ability to capture someone who can turn into a Titan on a whim. Which means... there was nothing we could do.

Leon(thoughts) You left us no choice, Reiner.

Leon then noticed the Armored Titan's jaw shift. Before he could react, the supposed dead Titan tilted his head up, opened its mouth and let out a booming roar. Armin covered his ears as they all watched with shock and horror at what this could mean for them. After a few seconds of the roar, it stopped, and the Titan slumped forward again.

Leon: What the hell was that?

On the other side of the wall, the quadruped Titan bounded forward, getting right next to the Beast Titan. The large Titan reached down and grabbed a barrel from the cargo strapped to the smaller Titan's back. Winding back, the large ape-like Titan threw the barrel as high and far as it could go. Both Erwin and Levi let out breaths of exasperation as the barrel soared overhead.

Hanji: (Now equipped with Thunder Spears) Use your Thunder Spears! If we want him dead, we'll have to destroy his whole body!

Armin: (Thoughts) That scream just now... Was it for Bertolt?
