Hanji: Hey, stay still.
Levi gasped and hissed in pain as Hanji threaded a needle into his skin, stitching up the large cut across his face. The man was currently leaning against a tree trunk, shirtless as he was being patched up. The commander crouched in front of him, her delicate hands working away diligently. A campfire burned brightly a few meters from them, giving Hanji the much-needed light she required.
Hanji: So you're telling me that everyone got turned into Titans and only you and Tony survived, until the blast. Tony covered you from the Thunderspear explosion... but even with his noble sacrifice, you shouldn't have survived being that close to a Thunder Spear. I guess the reason you did survive is the same reason you have managed to stay alive all these years; You're an Ackerman.
Levi: What a load of good that did me... that hairy son of a bitch went further than I ever imagined he would have. And Tony paid the price for my arrogance.
Hanji: (Looking into one of Levi's gray eyes) You shouldn't blame yourself. There was nothing you could've done to save him. He sacrificed himself so you could be here, don't make his sacrifice be in vain.
Levi: I swear I will kill Zeke, that son of– Ow!
Levi cursed and hissed as Hanji's stitching needle entered his flesh wrong.
Hanji: What, I thought you were an Ackerman?
Levi: It still hurts..
After a few more stitches, Hanji was done. She set down all her tools to one side and sat back on her legs and looked at her friend's face.
Hanji: There, that should heal in no time. (Grabbing a roll of bandages) Now I just have to cover it up to prevent infection.
As the brown-haired woman started to wrap the white fabric around and over his wound, Levi kept his eyes trained on her face. As the commander finished applying the material and cutting it off, she met the Captain's eyes. She felt her breath hitch slightly as she looked down at his torso. Levi's body suffered similar injuries like his face, bruises, cuts, and slight burns. Her brown eyes trailed down the cuts and the preexisting scars that ran across his defined muscles. Hanji felt her face heat up before she quickly looked away awkwardly.
Hanji: (Turning to leave) I'll make you something to–
Levi reached out and stopped Hanji by lightly grabbing her upper arm.
Levi: Hanji... (The woman turned and looked back into Levi's eyes) thank you.
Hanji: (Nodding) Of course.
Hanji then quickly got to her feet and moved over to start making food over the fire. It wasn't long before she came back with a bowl of hot stew. She passed it over to the man who gladly accepted it.
Levi: Thank you... We should get moving as soon as possible.
Hanji: (Sitting down beside Levi) And do what? We can't stop Zeke anymore, so it's up to Armin or Commander Pixis. Even supposing that Eren does betray Zeke, if the Jaegerists control the island with spinal fluid, we'll be fugitives for the rest of our lives. Looks like my turn has come Even if I thought I did the right thing. Times change and you end up in a cell.
Levi didn't reply, he just sat quietly, looking into the flames of the fire.
Hanji: (In a joking manner) What do you say we live out here forever?
She was expecting something, maybe a snarky remark, or a sarcastic reply, but instead she felt his hand grasp hers. Hanji gasped as she looked down to her side to see Levi's hand resting atop hers, threading his fingers with her own.
