“But what if the person has multiple soulmates?” I say, spinning around in the black desk chair by Da-eun’s desk. The chair makes a concerning screech but it's become like background noise now. Everything in this house is somewhat broken anyways.
“Don’t ask me that question. I don't know? I'm still trying to figure out how to wire it to recognise one person,” Da-eun snaps back, her expression unbothered, as it always is.
I sigh and lean back in the chair, bored of being told off for the umpteenth time this week. Da-eun, noticing this, puts her old laptop on my lap before looking back at the computer monitor.
“If you're so interested, why don't you try find a way yourself?” She says. And though it's only for a split second, I see the soft smile on her face.
A small chuckle leaves my lips but I stop realising that she isn't joking. “Seriously? Da-eun, I don't know how to code,” I utter, looking at her in slight awe at this gesture.
“You’ll figure it out as you go, Haneul.”

“Haneul?”
“Haneul, are you listening to me?” Yuna Park asks me whilst wafting a sheet of paper in my face. It's the fifth time she's done so in the past hour or two.
I nod slowly, pulling myself back to reality. “Sorry, what did you say again?” With this, Yuna does not look impressed with me. And with our relationship, she never is.
“Honestly, you're even worse than Daesung. I said, this new exchange student is supposed to be some sports star. That's why the Physical Education department wanted him so badly,” she repeats, very clearly annoyed at what she calls my ‘incompetence’.
“What’s his name?” I ask, looking over at the sheet of paper.
“It’s... Cory Braxton.”
