12:37nn nang makarating ako sa school gate ng OLLC (Our Lady of Lourdes College) na school ni Devon.
Nabobored ako, kailan ba labasan ng mga 'yon? Nag-laro muna ako sa cell phone ko hanggang sa 'di ko na namalayan na 1:47pm na, nagsisi-labasan na mga students, Devon replied to me, "San ka?", I replied immediately, "Nasa BDO" — May BDO kasi sa tabi ng school nila. It's really handy.
After two minutes, nakita ko na si Devon. "Eyy! Musta na?" I greeted him.
"Ayos naman, Bernadette ka pala, ayaw ako pag-aralin do'n ni mom e" napansin n'ya yung logo sa vest ko, nakalagay kasi 'St. Bernadette College of Valenzuela • Val. City •' naka-paikot s'ya sa logo, 'SBCV'.
"Ba't ayaw ron ni tita?" Tanong ko.
"Ewan ko ba sa kan'ya." Sagot ni Devon.
"May sundo ka 'di ba?" I asked him, bihira kasi s'ya 'di sunduin ni tito.
"Yeah, malapit na raw si dad."
"Sabay ako" kako.
" 'Ge lang, kilala ka naman ni dad." Ika n'ya.
Nang dumating dad ni Devon ay binati ko s'ya, "Good noon po tito~"
"Oh, kasama mo pala si Soren ngayon." Sabi ng dad n'ya.
"Opo dad, can he get a ride home? Sa Arbortowne na rin po kasi si Soren naka-tira."
"No problem. Sakay na Soren."
Nang makarating na kami sa gate ng Arbortowne, they dropped me off na. I walked from the entrance gate to my new home.
Ahh~ I opened my phone after I saw down on the sofa. I checked my messenger app, nakita ko message ni Novalie: "Hii Sorennn, I forgot to give you your breakfast huhu bawi na lang ako tmrrr"
That's right.. may ibibigay nga pala si Novalie sa 'kin. Pati ako nakalimutan ko.
Devon: Nakauwi ka na?
Nag-chat si Devon. "Yeah, salamat ulit sa ride home"
D: It's alright
S: Btw about sa kinwento mo kanina about sa old school natin, ano meron?
D: There's this rumor na may nag-sunog daw sa school and it was not an accident.
S: WAIT WHAT?!
D: Yes! But it's all just rumors so Idk
S: Alr. But still-
D: Oms, but rn we'll continue our academic lives in our new school
S: Omsinida
I closed my phone and I lied down, still wearing my uniform.
An hour has passed — I already changed from my uniform — habang nanonood ako sa phone ko, Devon sent me a message.
D: Soren! Confirmed! May nag-sunog sa school, nag-post na yung page ng Manila City mismo
I immediately replied, "WEH?!!"
D: Oo! Under investigation yung fire rn
And he sent a message with an image attachment, there, nakalagay yung post ng Manila City about the fire and it clearly stated na under investigation 'to. I wonder who did it and why, what would they gain from doing it?
After some more time and exchange with Devon, we've come up with 3 suspects. One is Janine who's been suspended because she was caught smuggling drugs in school, next is Danica who's always up for money and will do anything for any amount of money — a rumour has gone around that she told one of her friends' deepest secret just for a mere ₱100, another rumour is that she has a history of murder —, and lastly, Chris who's always been so shady about his jokes that are mostly about arson; not only that, his dad is convicted because of arson.
Me and Devon are just teens, wala kaming alam sa mga gan'to kaya we set our minds away from all of this and let the police take the case over.
While doing my homework after the exchange with Devon, Novalie sent me a message, "You up?"
Huh? It's 9pm Novalie, you should be asleep already. You won't get enough sleep if you stay up this late.
"Yeah, what's up?" I replied.
N: Gusto mo bang mag night walk?
S: Night walk? Sa'n naman tayo pupunta?
N: Anywhere.. I just want to get things off my mind
S: Wanna come here for the night? I'll prepare you a sandwich
N: Really? 'Di ba magagalit parents mo?
S: I live alone HWHAHHA
N: SANAOLLLL
S: HWHAHAHA
S: So, are you coming?
N: Wait mo 'ko sa gate ng Asterville
S: No, I don't live in Asterville anymore
N: Then where?
S: Arbortowne
N: OHH? I'VE ALWAYS WANTED TO COME INSIDE THE SUBDIVISION!
S: Makakapasok ka naaa HWHHAHA
N: Coming! Wait mo ko sa gate!
I brought my earbuds and wore a hoodie, I'm still in my pyjamas but I hope she doesn't mind. Lumabas na 'ko ng bahay and went for the gate, when I got there, naroon na si Novalie.
She ran to the guard and after some exchange, pinapasok na s'ya. "Halaaa, gan'to pala sa loob!" Her expression is amazed, I remember the same reaction I had nu'ng pinag-aral nila ako sa International School Manila, amazed na amazed ako sa loob; and when I saw those other foreigner pupils, I felt at home for some reason — well, home ko naman ang Philippines since dito 'ko pinalaki but I've always been told na ang buhay sa Norway is better than here, and I'm glad I stayed here kasi I met Devon and Novalie, the two most important people I've met and besides, my family will be poor in Norway.
"By the way Soren, anong lahi mo? I heard you're part Korean, tell me more!" Bigla n'yang sabi sa 'kin. Where did she even found out na may lahi akong Koreano?
"Uh yeah, I'm half-Norwegian, part-Korean and part-Filipino. Sa'n- " Before I could even finish my sentence, nag-salita na s'ya bigla.
"Grabe ba! Tapos ako magiging nobya mo, may nobyo akong Koreano!!!"
Grabe pagiging delulu ni Novalie, but I was kinda happy?? NOVALIE I'M FALLING BUT I DON'T WANT TO ADMIT IT AAAAHHH
"Sa'n mo pala narinig 'yun?" I asked her.
"Kay Devon!" She smiled at me.
"DEVON?! PA'NO KA N'YA NAHANAP?!"
"I don't know either pero he told me some things about you." She giggled.
Oh Devon bakit mo naman in-add si Novalieeeee! I hope 'di n'ya sinabi na may gusto ako sa kanya!
"Grabe ba, sa international school pala kayo dati, yaman n'yo ah" pagbibiro n'ya sa 'kin.
" 'Di naman, may kaya lang."
"So uhm, where do you live?" Tanong n'ya.
"Sa dulo pa, kaya natagalan ako."
"Yeah, ambilis magpatakbo nung jeep, humaharurot porket walang traffic HAHAHA" Yes, she laughed so loud that I had to make it capitalised.
Habang naglalakad kami, Novalie's mother texted her.
"I gotta go na, I'm sorry. I thought they wouldn't find out."
"Hm? Tumakas ka lang?" I asked her.
"Yeah, they're asleep na so I thought I could sneak out. Maybe tomorrow after school?"
"Sure thing."
And then she left. I hope 'di pa bulok yung mga lettuce na binili ko when I moved here.
