Crystal barely made it to school on time on Monday morning, hardly getting the chance to slip through the doors as the loud bell rang, signalling homeroom in 10 minutes. Though somehow running even later than usual, she knew she'd made it just in time to catch Jan, Jackie, and Heidi at her locker, the same routine as every day. Crystal always waltzed in just a minute of two before the bell rang, part of her morning ritual after smoking a Malboro gold cigarette on the park bench opposite school grounds.

However, this morning, she had managed to get even further behind schedule due to a missing earring she felt would complete today's outfit - unfortunately for her once she found it not only did she realise it did not pair as well as she'd hoped, but that she was much later than intended. This also meant she didn't get to eat breakfast on the way like she normally would.

"I didn't think you were coming for a minute" Jan said, offering her a granola bar as she pieced together Crystal's poor timing and red face and knew the brunette had not eaten yet.

"Thank you so much, Jan, and I nearly gave up on even bothering to show my face here. I lost an earring that I thought would go really cute with my outfit, but then I found it, realised it wasn't cute, AND I was even later than normal!" Jackie laughed at her friends misfortune

"Girl, just eat your granola bar and relax, you're here now an-" Jackie was cut off by Jan, who grabbed Crystal by the hand

"Crystal, it's musical auditions today! I'm gonna go! I want a big role! I don't even care what it is! But we're seniors now. It's my last time performing here!" Jan hopped with excitement, making Crystal chuckle

"Calm down Jan, you're making me spill granola everywhere. What musical is it?" Jan jumped even higher

"It's MEAN GIRLS CRYSSIE," and Crystal couldn't help but bounce in enthusiasm, as many a drunken weekend was spent watching mean girls with her friends (and Gigi) and Jan knew every word. Heidi chimed in now

"God, you two are children. I hate to burst your bubble, but Gigi, 12 O'Clock." Crystal's smile fell, and she stopped bouncing, turning to where Heidi was facing as Jan stepped infront of her

"Jan," Gigi smiled as she pulled the shorter girl in for a hug. "Have you heard?" Jan nodded in excitement, and Crystal began to zone out, eyes on the tall blonde before her, studying her outfit: a pair of low rise bleached jeans, which showed off the straps of a white lace thong, and a blue cropped blouse which showed a matching white bra and Gigi Goode's belly button peircing. Gigi happily greeted Jackie and Heidi before pulling Crystal from her daydream

"Crystal." Gigi spoke, flatly, looking down at the outrageously dressed, shorter girl. Crystal responded the same way.
"Genevieve."

The tension between the two girls was thick, enveloping the group in an uncomfortable blanket. Heidi saw this as an opportunity to speak up, for the sake of Jan, whose mood had shifted entirely.

"Crystal," she spoke, turning her body towards the girl "You know, now that we're seniors you can speak to Mrs Baker about helping her to produce the musical, you know lights and sounds and stuff. We both know you're not much of a singer" Crystal started to smile but feigned offence at the end of Heidi's speech, knowing the girl was referencing a slightly tipsy karaoke night at Crystal's a few weeks prior. (Gigi wasnt there, if the group hang out at Crystals, she makes an excuse not to go) They both began to laugh.

Gigi's eyes fell to Crystal, studying her outfit. The brunette wore a blazer and pants made of a patchwork of different patterned fabrics. It was hideous, but it was so Crystal.

The girls strolled towards homeroom after realising they had three minutes to get there, Crystal, as always, walking quietly a little bit behind the group who spoke jovially above one another.
