"My parents are going away this weekend," Natasha said to Tessa at lunch the next day.

"Party at your house?" She asked, blue eyes shining bright.

"No way! My parents would kill me," Natasha said.

"Well, hey, I'm sure your brother will be throwing on anyway," she laughed.

"I checked him out during PE yesterday, during soccer." Trix said.

"Gross," Natasha said.

"He's got a nice body. Is he an athlete?"

"He's a hockey player. It's a family business."

Trix's eyes lit up.

"Come over some time, you can ogle at him all you want."

"Are you serious?"

Natasha rolled her eyes.

Her three friends giggled.

"I'm going to my locker guys," Natasha said, "I'll catch up!"

As her three friends walked off, linking arms together, Natasha ran back to her locker to put her books away.

Her new school was okay. It wasn't as bad as she thought, true.

Natasha swung around, unaware the crowded hallway.

Her new textbooks fell to the ground.

As she mumbled sorry to the by passer, Natasha quickly bent down to pick up her books.

"Here," a voice said handing her a text book.

"Thanks," she smiled.

Natasha looked up to see a familiar face.

It was the guy who tried to slip into class unnoticed the other day.

"You're the new girl."

Natasha nodded.

"Is Nathaniel your brother?" He asked.

"Yeah," Natasha smiled, "you know him?"

"He tried out for soccer. Made it to the team in case you were wondering."

Natasha nodded, "Yeah, he had practice from hockey."

"Oh right, you're from Canada," he said as they walked through the crowded, "I'm Cassidy."

"Nice to meet you," she smiled, shaking his outreached hand, "Natasha."

"How are you liking your new friends?"

"They're cool," Natasha answered, "why?"

"They're an interesting bunch...have you seen Mean Girls?"

"Who hasn't?" Natasha laughed.

"They're a bit like the Plastics."

"Oh boy."

"Don't worry," Cassidy laughed, "you'll fit in just fine."

They reached the end of the hallway and Natasha turned toward the cafeteria.

"I'm off to the gym," Cassidy began.

"I'm gonna go catch up with the girls."

"I'll see you around," Cassidy said.

"Bye."

Natasha slipped through the doors and let out a breath of relief. That could have been more awkward. As she walked towards her friends in the lunch line, she found herself thinking about her encounter with Cassidy. Cassidy was different from the other jocks she knew from her old school. He didn't seem obnoxious or arrogant; he was friendly. He had a soothing voice that was kind. His eyes were the clearest blue she'd ever seen and his sandy blonde hair was a lot more natural than her highlighted locks. A real California boy.
