In the fan fic the marleyan and the language spoken on paradis is mainly similar but certain words are outdated
Since In Aot kyomi brought up the fact paradis was over 100 years behind the rest of the world it makes sense that the languages would be morphologically different (like old English and Morden English)
So people from paradis can somewhat understand marleyan and vice versa but certain words are harder to
So I'm later chapters when characters mention they can't understand some of the words the warriors are saying, that's why
