KITSU'S POINT OF VIEW
"Okaasan, is there a god? I remember asking that to my mother when I was five years old after seeing a woman that shines so bright in my room and saying she's a god," sabi ko kay Hatori. Nginitian niya naman ako at hinimas-himas ang likuran ko para mapagaan ang loob ko.
"Don't worry, Kitsu. I'll help you in searching for your mother, I'll never leave you alone, because I love you," sabi niya na nagpabigla sakin.
"U-Uh? What did you say?" I asked. He became agitated and smiled awkwardly.
"U-Uh? What I mean is, I love you as a friend. Don't you love me as your best friend, Kitsu-i?" Tanong niya na nagpangiti sakin. So, I flicked his forehead, which made him pout. He's cute for doing that, so I can't resist but to pinch his cheeks.
"You're really a naughty boy, Hatori. I also love you, though not a friend but more on that," I said, whispering the last sentence. So that he won't hear it.
"Pardon? I can't hear you," sabi nito. Kaya tinawanan ko na lang siya at ginulo ang kanyang kulay orange-pink na buhok.
"Don't mind me. Anyhow, how can we find my mother? If we go to the police and tell them that a tree-like monster appeared and abducted my mother is very unrealistic to tell, they might think that we are just messing around or worse, they will suspect us as drug users, fucking damn situation, is this because of the trials that Gods gave to me, fuck it!" I shouted, grinding my teeth because of the anger I felt.
"Calm down, Kitsu-i! You're showing your profane side again, you know I hate hearing profanity from you, Kitsu, it maim into my ears!" Pikon na sigaw sakin ni Hatori. Kaya naman huminga ako ng malalim.
"Sorry, Hatori-Chan, you know I can't help as I know that this kind of weird phenomenon is insane. I don't know what to do anymore," I said. Gusto kong umiyak, pero pinipigilan ko dahil lalo lang naman wala akong magagawa kapag umiyak ako. Bigla namang may kulay puting bilog ang napunta sa ilong ki. Kaya napatingin ako sa taas at nakitang nag-uumpisa ng ang niyebe.
"Uh? But isn't we're in the middle of summer? Why there's a snow coming?" Tanong ni Hatori. Huminga na lang ako ng malalim at pinagmasdan ang pagbagsak ng niyebe hanggang sa may naaninag aking kulay itim na bagay na pabagsak samin mula sa himpapawid. Kaya naman tunayo ako at hinigit si Hitori at doon nga ay bumagsak sa inuupuan namin ang itim na bagay na sumira sa inuupuan namin kanina na nagdulot ng makapal na usok.
"Kitsu-san, genkidesuka? Anata ga mada ikite ite, don'yokuna yōkai ni tabe rarete iru no o miru no wa yoi kotodesu," Sabi nito. Nagtaka ako kung sino ito at napakunot lalo ang noo ko nang maglakad ito palabas sa usok at iniluwa nito ang kulay itim na pusang may kagat-kagat na envelope.
[Translation: How are you, Kitsu? It's good to see that you are still alive and not eaten by the greedy Yokai.]
"Saan nanggagaling ang panglalaking boses na yun?" Tanong ko sa sarili ko.
"Woah! What a cute cat!" Sigaw ni Hatori at lalapitan niya sana ito ng itinaas ng pusa ang kanyang dalawang itim na buntot na dahilan naman para pigilan ko si Hatori.
"Anatahadaredesu ka? Anata ga futsū no nekode wanai koto wa wakatte imasu, anata ga daredearu ka o misetekudasai!" Seryosong sigaw ko, kita ko namang ngumisi ito.
[Translation: Who are you? I know you're not a normal cat, show me who you are!]
"Kowagaranaide, Kitsu. Watashi wa anata o kizutsukemasen, watashi wa watashi no masutā o kizutsukemasen," sagot nito. Nanliit naman ang mata ko at himigpitan ang hawak kay Hatori.
[Translation: Don't be afraid, Kitsu. I won't hurt you, I won't hurt my master]
"Dōiu imidesu ka? Zenbu itte kudasai, Konna koto wa iyadesu!" Gigil na sigaw ko.
[Translation: What do you mean? Tell me everything, I don't like being like this!]
"Ochitsuite kudasai, Kitsu-san. Anata ga hokkaidō no kono machi ni itta hi kara, watashi wa anata no okāsan to shiyōnin ni naru keiyaku o musunde kara zutto anata o mimamotte imasu. Fonīdoru ga jaakuna sonzai ni yūkai sa reru no o mimashitaga, soreha yōkaide wa nai to dangen shimasu. Fonidōru ga yūkai sa reru no o mita nochi, watashi wa anata no jiken o shien suru kikan ni ikimashitaga, karera ga anata o mitsukete iru to wa nagaiai shirimasendeshita. Sorede, karera wa torihiki o musubi, anata ni kore o iitai nodesu. Karera wa anata no hahaoya o mitsukeru no o tetsudaimasu, sonokawarini anata wa karera no chikara ni kuwawarimasu, soshite anata wa karera no tame ni hatarakimasu. Anata wa-chū ni imasu ka?" Mahabang lintaya nito sakin na nagpahawak naman sa baba ko at napagpa-isip ng malalim sakin.
[Translation: Please calm down, Kitsu. I am watching you since the day you went to this town of Hokkaido, I made a deal with your mother to be your servant. I saw Fonīdoru abducted by a sinister being, but I assure you it's not a yokai. After I saw Fonīdoru being abducted, I went to an agency that helps your case, but I didn't know that they were finding you for a long time. "For my mother, I'll do it," sabi ko sabay kuha ng envelope na kagat-kagat niya.
"How about me?" Tanong ni Hatori na mukhang confused sa mga nangyayari. Tumingin naman ako sa itim na pusa.
"Since you heard all of our conversation and I smelled something in you, you will be joining us in going to Mythos Agency: Japan Branch," Sabi ng itim na pusa.
"But how are we going there? Mr.?" Tanong ko.
"Name me, Master Kitsu. As a Shikigami, I have no rights to name ourselves, as it's our Master's duty to name us. Make sure it's beautiful and powerful," sabi pa nito sabay kindat.
"Okay Pussy!" Sigaw ki na may ngisi sa labi na nagpatulala naman sakanya.
"I-Is that fina—"
"Yes Pussy, now tell me how we go there?" Tanong ko na pumutol sa sasabihin niya. Huminga naman ito ng malalim na parang sumuko na lang.
"Go to my back!" Sigaw nito at ilang saglit pa ay nabalutan ito ng kulay asul na apoy at nang mawala ang apoy ay ang pag-triple naman ng size nito na halos kasing laki na ng isang puno, nagkaroon din ito ng pares ng dalawang pak-pak.
"Hop in!" Sigaw nito samin na parang galit. Kinarga ko naman na parang bagong kasal si Hatori at napansin kong namula pa ito, ngunit pinagsawalang bahala ko na lang at tumalon na kaming dalawa sa likuran ni Pussy.
"Hold tight!" Sigaw pa ni Pussy, kaya naman humawak kami sa balahubo niya at saka na ito lumipad.
Binuksan ko namna ang envelope at nakita ki naman ang nakatuping papel, kaya kinuha ko at inunfold, at binasa...
