Eli found herself slowly navigating through the melodies of her past, seeking solace in music once more sparked by that unexpected duet with Charles. It seemed like Monaco had its own way of weaving together unexpected yet meaningful encounters. The first was a night when two strangers, her and Lando, found solace and comfort in each other's company, sharing their stories under the moonlit sky. The second encounter came in the form of Charles, a former guardian angel turned friend, whose unexpected arrival brought a new understanding and connection into her life. In this city of luxury and opulence, these chance meetings added a touch of enchantment to Eli's days.

But unlike Lando, whose presence was fleeting after that one pleasant night, Charles had become a comforting and familiar figure in her life, almost like a companion in her journey as a guardian angel. His occasional check-ins through text, disguised as casual inquiries, held deeper meaning— an attempt to decipher if any new pearls had darkened or if she had unravelled any mysteries on her own. In the pursuit to reclaim the musical part of herself, Eli tiptoed back into the world of melodies. She started small, attending concerts and immersing herself in the orchestration of sound without the pressure to play. Each note, each rhythm, brought back memories of her own piano-playing days, nudging her gently to rekindle that lost connection with music. Meanwhile, Charles delved into the bustling whirlwind of the race season, a world that remained unknown to Eli. He jetted across continents, racing through circuits, and yet, amidst the adrenaline-fueled tracks, he made it a point to keep a watchful eye on Eli's progress, as subtle as a guardian's whispers in the wind.

As the Monaco Grand Prix approached, Charles returned to Monaco for his home race, his racing duties aligning with Eli's life once more. He extended an invitation for Eli to catch up, a simple yet warm gesture that bridged the gap between their separate worlds. She accepted, stepping into Charles's world, unaware of the grandeur that awaited her behind the door of his home. She was greeted with a beautiful white grand piano, a testament to his playing from their first encounter. "Have you been playing much?", he asked, to which she shook her head and they continued their way into his home. The reminiscences of his career adorned the living room—trophies, photographs, and memorabilia echoing the tale of an illustrious journey. Her thumb gently caressed the words engraved onto a trophy before her, "Formula 1," she read aloud softly. "Surprise?" Charles laughed noticing her eyes widening as she realised that this man she encountered wasn't just an ordinary person— he was a Formula 1 driver. She continued to look at the mementos from his career in wonder, slowly piecing together what little she knew of him— the constant travelling, his elegance, and the glimpses of his luxuries lifestyles she's seen— and all fell into place. Eli was in complete awe at how someone, not too far from her age, had already establish himself with such a successful career. Yet, it wasn't the racing world that drew her attention most; it was a photo frame— a group photo of about 20 faces etched within its borders— and her gaze halted upon a face she recognised only too well.

"Lando," she voiced her thought quietly, but just about loud enough to catch Charles' attention. He turned toward her, "Did you say something?". Uncertain on how to approach the question, she pointed to Lando's face in the photo, his smile beaming and hands around the other drivers. "Interested?", Charles smirked playfully, wiggling his eyebrows. Her lack of reaction made him pause. "That's Lando, Lando Norris. He's another F1 driver," he continued casually.

It shall reveal itself in time— the echo of the figure's words reverberated in her mind.

"Actually," she began, "I've met him before." Her words hung in the air, a heavy silence enveloping the room. Charles raised an eyebrow, waiting for her to continue. "It's strange, isn't it?" she mused. "Two encounters in Monaco, both with F1 drivers. What are the odds?" What if maybe there was a reason beyond simply finding another guardian angel, or a former one that took in the form of Charles. She spoke more about her previous encounter with Lando, revealing that it happened before her accident, but skimming over some details, not wanting to expose his moment of vulnerability. Yet, in her narrative, there was a hint, an unspoken realisation hanging in the air— perhaps that encounter held more significance than she thought, the catalyst for the first darkened bead on her bracelet. Their unspoken understanding conveyed volumes, a silent acknowledgment that there was more to their chance encounters than mere coincidence.

"But we can't be certain, right?" Eli voiced her uncertainty, her eyes fixed on the photo, thoughts swirling. Charles, sensing her contemplation, leaned in slightly, "Well, there's only one way to find out." His words initially left her in confusion until he revealed his plan to bring her to the Monaco GrandPrix. It dawned on her—perhaps this race held the missing piece to the puzzle, a chance to unravel the enigmatic connection between her encounters and the darkening beads on her bracelet.
