Katie POV
Waking up the next morning, in Scarlett's arms I'm extremely happy. I actually slept through the night and don't even remember falling asleep. It must be early because I don't hear the kids and the sun is barely peaking through the curtains. What I do hear is a man's voice calling Scarlett's name."Scarlett" I whisper and nudge her but she doesn't budge.
I can hear footsteps coming up the stairs and I internally start to freak out.
"Scar" I whisper and shake her a little and she stirs in her sleep but pops one eye open. "Someone's here" I whisper as the voice calls out for her name once more.
"Shit" she grumbles but pops herself up and runs out of the room. I hear Colin's voice a little down the hall and he's questioning why she wasn't asleep in the bedroom.
"I wanted to be closer to the kids. Why are you here Colin. I told you I needed time and space."
"I forgot my cell phone charger and needed a different suit." He grumbles. "Is someone here? There's shoes at the back door."
Fuck, I forgot my shoes are here.
"Those are Katie's. She must have left them yesterday." Scarlett quickly lies.
"Well I'll just grab my stuff and leave. Unless maybe you want to grab coffee?" He asks and I feel my stomach turn sour. At least he doesn't suspect anything with me. Not like anything happened last night.
"No colin. I don't. I would like if you left though." She says confidently and boy did that turn me on.
"Fine." He scoffs and I hear the footsteps retreating. It's silent for a moment and I'm looking around the room for options of hiding places. The closet or bathroom is my first option, but I think closet is the best. Luckily Scarlett walks back in.
"He's gone. I'm sorry. That was...."
"A close one?" I laugh. "Maybe I should go home?"
"No! I mean, please don't. I know you have work but maybe I could drive you so we could spend just a little more time together." She says so sweet and the way she flutters her eyelashes makes me weak in the knees.
"Sure I can. Can I borrow clothes?" I ask and she nods her head yes.
"Can I...have...a..." she pauses like she's nervous in between words. I know if I fill in the blank with what's in my mind it can go one of two ways. Either she accepts it or she hates it and I get slapped in the face.
"A...." I pause dragging out the word.
"Oh never mind." She chuckles nervously as she goes to get off the bed but I stop her. My hand pulls her arm into my lap so she turns around to face me.
"A kiss, perhaps?" I ask hoping I'm right.
When she nods her head and a shy smile comes over her face I take a mental picture so I can remember that adorable face all the time.
I slide my hands up her arms and when I get to her shoulders I play with the bottom of her hair. I like it like this, messy, because she is always so prim and proper with her hair. A perfect slick back bun or a middle parted bob that never has a hair out of place. I look into her eyes and flicker to her lips a couple times before I feel myself being pulled in. Her hands slip onto my cheeks as if to quicken the process and our lips crash together for a good 5 seconds before we start to dance.
Her hands pull my face closer as my hands slip down now and grab at her hips. We are on our knees kissing each other on top of the bed and for some reason I am not trying to further it. Neither is she and eventually we pull away breathless.
