The carriage ride towards the dragon pit was quiet amongst the mother and son duo, with the ma  looking out the small window whilst his mother remained her gaze onto the rings that laid onto her fingers. the mere interaction that occured moments before had not left the brunette's mind as she recalled each detail of it, each words and looks that were exchanged—it scorned alicent and she could not ever forgive herself for she was the one whom had caused it

from the other side, aegon took notice of his mother's silence as he took a quick glance at her form before returning his gaze out the carriage as his lips parted to speak "why so solemn dear mother, has the decision on whom to crown weaver?" said the man keeping his tone dull, it was clear aegon had no wish for what's to come and it simmered the brunettes mood further than is already was

alicent hummed a small chuckle shaking her head lightly "you could atleast have the decency of looking grateful, do you know what has been done to give you this day?" the snap in her tongue showed itself as she narrowed her eyes to her hands trying to calm herself from sprouting her anger out on her son when it had not been his fault

taking a short breathe, alicent turned to him "in an hour you will be king–"

"and my father never wanted this" aegon cut in to his mothers oncoming speech already knowing the truth behind all of this and was pleasantly sick of all the lies that were told by both his grandsire and mother of the love his father had for him

alicent shook her head once more "that's not true" she denied to which made aegon scoff with a roll of his eyes

"he had years to name me heir and never did, steadfastly he upheld rhaenyra's claim" the mention of his elder sister brought the same old brewing resentment and sadness that always swirled within him for all these years

"he changed his mind" replied alicent turning away from him

aegon smiled dryly "oh" chuckled the man "no...he could have but he never did because he didn't like me"
