Chapter 2 'We gotta get outta here'

"Okay, does everyone remember the plan?" -Ximena

"Yes, first step, pack the essentials" -Rachel

"Actually, we already did the first step, it was to get Aris to remember" -yn

"So it was a part of your plan to hit me?" -Aris

"You really still hold on to that?" -Ximena

"So the second step is to pack the essentials?" -Sonya

"It was, it's done. I packed while you told him all of the about hitting him" -Harriet

"Good, thanks Harriet. So now its step three" -Yn

"What is step three?" -Aris

"Get outta here" -Yn

"Guys stop it, and go get ready. It's gonna be real cold so put a lot of layers on" -Harriet

"Yeah, of course it's cold out there, there is snow everywhere" -Aris

"HEY, watch it. And besides, its way colder out there then in here in the spring" -Ximena

When we were ready, we went to the doors of the maze waiting for them to open, when we suddenly were stopped by some of the other Icers.

"Where are you going, not in the maze, right?" -Beth

"Yes, we are" -Rachel

"But you're not supposed to, everytime a newbie comes up we stay in the Spring for a few extra days to get to know them" -Beth

"Look, Beth, we know it's different but you gotta trust us" Sonya

"Fine, good luck" -Beth

"Thank you, we might need it" -Harriet

We went into the maze knowing that there will be shaders, but only caring about getting out as fast as possible.

After a while of ice skating we finally got to the vertical part of the maze. We haven't seen any shaders yet but we were prepared.

"how are we supposed to climb that?" -Aris

"It's easy, we use our tools" -Harriet

"Now I gotta ask, do you expect me to climb a rope to get to the top?" -Aris

"I can really feel that it's only your second day here" -yn

"What do you mean?" -Aris

"We don't use rope, we use knives. But they are special, they are made for this, so you won't fall" -Sonya

"And the skates have a very long blade, to cut into the ice when you climb" -Harriet

"How do I do?" -Aris

"Look and watch" -Yn

I go to the tall ice wall and look at the marks from previous times we have tried to climbed the wall. I stuck my right knife into the ice and then left a bit higher, after that I began to kick my skates into the ice too. I was a bit over the ground when I looked down at Aris, expecting him to begin to climb.

"you're crazy, right?" -Aris

"Don't worry, if you get the knife's far enough into the ice, the the handle is so long that you can sit and take a break every few minutes" -Yn

"You don't think that I can handle more than a few minutes?" -Aris

"Try" -yn

I sat down on one of the knives in the ice wall, as he tried to climb up. It took him a few tries before he got the knife to stick in the wall, he tried climbing for a few minutes and then hit the knife really hard into the wall, which also took a few tries, and then he sat down. Aris wasn't far off the ground, but neither was I.

"That was not easy" -Aris

"Told you, you wouldn't last more than a few minutes before you'd have to sit" -yn

"Enough with the chit chat, we gotta get outa here" -Ximena

"Yeah, you're right. Now how do I-" -Aris

"To get back to the climbing you stick the knife that you aren't sitting on into the ice, a bit higher than before of course" -Yn

"While sitting?" -Aris

"Unless you have another plan" -yn

"And what do I do after that?" -Aris

"You hold really tight on to the highest of your knives, and support your weight by the one that you are sitting on. And kick" -Yn

"Do I kick the wall?" -Aris

"Didn't you hear her, of course you kick the wall. And do it really hard, the first after a break is always the hardest" -Sonya
