As I sat and talked to Beth, trying to explain why we ran out in the maze to get a shader, I saw some of the other Icers began to gather around us.
"Beth, you must understand that we are just trying to find a way out, don't you wanna be free?" -Yn
"Of course I want to be free, but you seriously think that trusting a boy will help us in any way possible. Look at him, he's terrible at skating" -Beth
"Aris is not terrible at skating, where do you get that idea?" -Yn
"Well take a look, he obviously fell face first when you had to get the shader, and he can't even take care of himself, Sonya has to do it for him!" -Beth
"We all fell our first few times on ice, and he can take care of himself" -Yn
"Then explain why Sonya is sitting doing it for him" -Beth
"Because Sonya is a sweet girl that loves to help others, which is why she is our leader!" -Yn
"It's a weakness, that's all it is!" -Beth
"Being able to help others isn't a weakness, it's an amazing ability to be able to always be nice to others no matter how rude they are! She has never been mad at anyone, and she will take the pressure of anything if it means that we are okay!" -Yn
"She's too weak to be a leader!" -Beth
"Sonya is way stronger than you'll ever be, she is cable of keeping a smile no matter how much pressure she's on" -Yn
"She needs to wake up, you all need to wake up. This so happy reality you're all living in is just a dream, you need to wake up and realize that we can't trust that boy, that this is all one big mess" -Beth
"This is not a mess and you need a hit to your head if you don't trust your own leader,we chose her for a reason, Ximena chose her for a reason. So when Sonya decided to trust Aris, we all trust him. He has never done anything to show that we shouldn't trust him" -Yn
"Wake the fuck up Yn, Sonya got chosen because we needed someone to be nice, not to lead. We never expected Ximena to die, and Aris has given plenty of reasons not to trust him!" -Beth
"Oh really? Like what?" -Yn
"The way he acted when he got here, he was completely okay with us not trusting him, he was okay with everything we threw at him!" -Beth
"A lot of us were okay with all this, Harriet wasn't scared when she got here, she was okay with all of this just like us others. You are one of the only hating everybody as the first thing" -Yn
"Yn is right, a lot of us were okay with this, not scared of each other, and not hating each other" -Harriet
"Oh of course you're going to back her up, you always back everyone up" -Beth
"You need to stop this now, Sonya got chosen because she is reliable, trustworthy, helpful and cable of working under pressure" -Yn
Sonya had heard all the arguing, everybody had, we were surrounded by all the icers by now.
"What pressure? The pressure of being nice to every new stick that shows up here?" -Beth
"Beth, that's enough, shut up now!" -Sonya
I had never heard Sonya swear, this was the first time, ever.
"The fuck did you just say to me?" -Beth
"I said, that's enough and you need to shut your mouth because you have no idea what you're talking about" -Sonya
She looked furious, both of them did. I've never seen Sonya this mad, it's expected from Beth but from Sonya? No way.
"Excuse me, who do you think you are?! Some leader?" -Beth
"That's exactly what I am, your leader, the first in command, and you know that" -Sonya
"Oh, 'miss nice girl' is speaking up now, huh?" -Beth
"Beth, calm down-" -Harriet
"You think you're so smart huh Beth? Well let me tell you something, never breaking down, never giving up on others, alway being nice even though they talk to me the same way you do, helping others even if they act like you, it's not easy, but you wouldn't know that. You don't appreciate anything that anyone does for you, and that's why you aren't leader" -Sonya
It was like Beth had realized something, I could see it in her eyes. All her movements had stopped, she didn't look as mad anymore.
"What?" -Beth
Even her voice was broken...
