It is currently Wednesday, three days before my game. I walk down the noisy halls with Amelia during lunch break. Scanning the cafeteria, I spot an empty table. "Look, we can sit over there," I say to Amelia. She nods in approval, and we walk over.

As we sit down, I hear Amelia say, "I'm so done with math. How am I even supposed to solve this?" I chuckle, saying, "I'm just accepting that math isn't for me."

We both eat our lunch and chat for a bit. "So, how's it going with Brady?" Amelia asks me. I respond, "He's not that bad, he's actually pretty chill to hang out with," raising my shoulders. "I told you," Amelia smirks. "What?" I ask. "Nothing," I roll my eyes teasingly.

"Don't we have homecoming coming up?" I ask. "I think so, isn't it in about a month?" she says while scrolling on her phone. "Yeah, you're right."

I look around the crowded cafeteria and spot Julia, my teammate. I wave at her and also make eye contact with Brady. I smile at him, and he smiles back.

Amelia nudges me, saying, "My mom can drop us off at soccer practice." I reply, "Okay, say thanks to your mom for me."

I yawn and put on my jacket. It's so cold these days, and I just want to lay in bed all the time and take a nap. I hear the bell ring and say goodbye to Amelia, heading to my next class.
