she sees you crying

You let out a big sigh of relief as soon as you closed the front door behind you.

Finally, your rough day was behind you at last.

You closed your heavy eyes and felt the weight of the world on your shoulders finally ease a  little.

It had been a long and terrible day from start to finish and all you want is to go up to bed and cuddle with Gracie until you fall asleep.

But, honestly, you felt as if you didn't even have the energy to do that.

You were so drained and your state of mind was anything but great from everything that happened today.

So instead of going upstairs, you plopped down on the sofa and buried your face into one of the pillows.

You felt overwhelmed and a little anxious as everything that went on today lingered despite being away from work and in the comfort of your home.

You couldn't help the tears that filled your eyes and quickly started to fall.

The pillow your face was buried in became damp with your tears and you didn't try to hide the sobs leaving your lips.

Gracie had her headphones in when you first walked through the door so she hadn't heard you come in but when she came down to get something to drink and saw that you were crying on the couch, her heart shattered.

"Baby?" She said as she hurried down the few steps ahead of her and over to your side.

You lifted your head from the pillow and sat up before drying your eyes, trying to pretend as though you weren't a mess from your awful day.

"What's the matter?" She asked.

"Nothing, I'm okay." You mumbled and kept looking away from her eyes, only for her to hook her fingers under your chin and lift it.

Your eyes locked with hers instantly and she could see how red they were.

"Don't lie to me, darling. I know you were crying, I saw you and I heard you. You can talk to me."

She brushed her hand across your back and her touch was so comforting; it's what you've so desperately needed all day.

"I just had a bad day." You sniffled. "A really bad day."

"Oh, my poor girl." She frowned, feeling your hurt and pain. "What happened? What went so wrong, hm?"

"Everything." You cried. "Seriously, every single thing. I don't even know how I made it through the day."

"But you did." She said as she smiled a little. "As terrible as it was, you still made it through. Because you're stronger than you think you are."

"I guess." You sighed before burying your face in her shirt.

"Baby, if you need to cry some more, you can. You can cry into my shirt, it's okay."

You couldn't help but do just that.

She's so sweet and so comforting and you can't help but let everything out, knowing that you were safe to do so with her arms wrapped around you so securely.

In between your cries, you opened up to her about everything that happened to make your day so horrible.

She listened to every single word as she continued to rub your back soothingly and lay soft little kisses against your head.

"That sounds awful, baby. I'm sorry." She said. "But you're home now and, soon, the day will be over and tomorrow, a new one begins. It'll be better than today."

"What if it isn't?" You asked as you looked up into her eyes.

"Then when you get home, I'll be here to dry your tears, give you kisses, and hold you throughout the night. Just like now and every single day ahead." She promised as she wiped away your tears.

"I love you so much."

"I love you too." She smiled before stealing a soft kiss from your lips. "How about we go upstairs and cuddle? We can watch a movie. I'll order dinner and we can just relax for the night. No worries, no stresses, no reminders of today. Just you and me."

"I'd love that." You replied as she brushed her thumb across your cheek.

She couldn't help but smile when she saw your eyes sparkling slightly, your tears nowhere in sight now.

"Okay. Come on, darling." She smiled as she took your hand.

You got up and made your way upstairs with her, ready to spend the rest of the night in her arms.
