Chapter 11   No more secrets

_______________

Eliriel looked around some more, pushing her way through the crowd until she spotted a familiar boat. "Tauriel!" She yelled running towards her and wrapping her hands around her for a tight hug. Tauriel hugged her back and pulled away before Eliriel moved to hug Laerornel too. Despite the weird events that have happened between them recently, she's still glad she's okay. She is her best friend after all.

"I'm glad you're both safe." Eliriel smiled as she put her hands on both her friends' shoulders. "You scared us, jumping off like that." Tauriel said, her tone serious. Laerornel nodded in agreement. "But what you did saved us and all these people,  I can't stay mad at you for that." She continued now smiling.

"Thank you but Bard killed the dragon. I can't take all the credits." Eliriel chuckled.

"Eliriel! You're alright!" A voice yelled just then behind Tauriel. Eliriel's gaze moved towards the voice and she saw Kili approaching them with a smile from ear to ear, while the rest of the dwarves were getting the boat ready to leave for Erebor. "Kili." Eliriel smiled.

"What you did there was amazing!" Kili said excitedly. To Eliriel he looked like a child getting a present. "I still can't believe you killed a dragon!" He continued. "I didn't kill him Kili, Bard did." Eliriel explained amused at his excitement. "If it weren't for you, all of us would be dead." He argued playfully making Eliriel chuckle at his stubbornness.

"Are your friends alright?" She asked him looking at the rest of the dwarves behind him. "Yes, they're fine." He answered looking behind him at the dwarves as well and they signaled him to get on the boat. "We're leaving for the mountain now." He turned back around, slightly frowning.

"I know."Eliriel nodded. "Have a safe trip mellon." She patted his shoulder. But before she could remove her hand he quickly pulled her into a quick and tight hug (which was a bit funny because of their height difference) before smiling and saying goodbye to Tauriel and Laerornel. The elleths waved at the dwarves as they were leaving, slowly fading into the distance. 'I hope they stay safe. Especially from Thorin now that he's affected by the dragon sickness.' She thought and sighed.

Tauriel turned to Eliriel. "You know, they kept talking about your powers, after you left. Couldn't believe you could make so many things out of ice with just a wave of your hand-" She said with a smile but abruptly stopped when she gazed behind Eliriel. Tauriel's smile faded and moved her eyes back at her friend. "I, will leave you two alone." She muttered and walked away with Laerornel.

'What was that about?' Eliriel thought.

She turned the other way and saw Legolas standing behind her. He had a disappointed look on his face as he stared into her blue eyes. Eliriel's confusion was visible on her face but then it clicked.

'Did he hear...what Tauriel just said?'

"Why didn't you tell me?" He asked as soon as Tauriel and Laerornel left, his gaze unwavering. Eliriel felt herself growing more nervous at his words.

'Of course he did.'

"Legolas listen I-" She began but was interrupted.

"I saw everything Eliriel, don't try to deny it." He interrupted. "So, why?" He asked again. He sounded betrayed. Eliriel gulped."I-I-I don't know. I just...didn't know how to." She stuttered. She truly didn't know why she kept it a secret for that long. She felt stupid. "You told Tauriel and Laerornel, why not me? And that is not even the worst thing." He paused smiling bitterly. "I'm more disappointed that you thought I was not trustworthy enough to tell me." He couldn't help but raise his voice slightly at the end in frustration.

His words hit Eliriel like thunder. It pained her that he thought she didn't trust him enough, she trusted him with her life. And yet, she hid an important thing from him. She truly hurt him and she regrets it now.

"No! You know that's not true! I trust you. I was just...afraid." She admitted pausing for a bit. Legolas tilted his head ever so slightly as if asking her what she was afraid of. Eliriel continued. "Of your reaction. I was scared that you would think I'm weird or-or that I was some king of monster and lose your trust in me. I don't know what I was thinking, it was pretty stupid. Goheno nin(I'm sorry)." She said in one breath, lowering her gaze to the ground. Legolas sighed slowly reaching down for the elleth's hands. "You know I would never think that." He said calmly and the elleth nodded slowly, still looking at the ground.

Eliriel could feel calming down and also getting nervous at the same time. This time for different reasons. She hesitantly moved her head up to look at him.

"You are neither weird Eliriel nor a monster. You're amazing. You just helped slay a beast and saved hundreds in the process-Even father, regards you as one of his most skilled guards and so do I." He paused. "Promise me you won't hide things from me anymore."

'He thinks I'm amazing.' Eliriel could feel her cheeks heating up but snapped out of her thoughts and nodded with a smile."Gweston.( I promise.)"
"Good." He smiled at her and they began to walk, to find the Tauriel and Laerornel. The walk was quiet at first but Eliriel broke the silence. "You really think I'm that skilled? More than you?" She smirked making Legolas do the same. "Not that skilled." He told her. "I can still beat you with my eyes closed." He leaned a bit closer to her. She laughed, happy that everything was back to normal.
"Oh, we'll see about that." She teased but their walk was interrupted as an ellon approached them with his horse. From his appearance he looked like a guard from Mirkwood.

"Hîr vuin Legolas (my lord)." The elf stopped infront of the two. "I bring word from your father. You are to return to him immediately."

Legolas nodded slightly and turned to Eliriel. "Tolo Eliriel, we must find the others (come)." He said but Eliriel didn't move. She knew what would follow. "My lord, Eliriel is banished. So is Tauriel and Laerornel." The elf motioned behind them and when Eliriel and Legolas turned their heads, the two elleths were standing there listening to the sad news. "Banished?" Legolas frowned turning back to face the elf. "You may tell my father," He started trying to calm his temper. "If there is no place for them, there is no place for me."

"Legolas, it is your king's command." Tauriel spoke in concern. Eliriel agreed with her but moved her attention to Laerornel who looked a bit spaced out, like she was not interested in the conversation. 'Something's up with her...' She thought and turned back to Legolas. "Yes he is my King, but he does not command my heart." He stated with no fear before turning around and walking away from there with his friends. "So, what happened after you hunted Bolg?" Eliriel asked curious. "You know of him?" Legolas asked a bit surprised at her question. He wasn't aware she knew him. "Yes I have heard." The elleth tried to cover her slip of the tongue. "Who is he?" Tauriel asked. "He's the spawn of Azog the Defiler." Laerornel unexpectedly answered making the rest to give her a look. "What? Eliriel told me." She simply said turning her head away.
'I didn't tell her anything. I only made her watch the movies with me way back and when I had asked her about something, she couldn't even remember Gandalf's name. How does she remember his?'Eliriel thought.

"A warg pack was waiting for him on the outskirts of Esgaroth." Legolas continued. "They fled into the North. But these orcs were different-They bore a mark I have not seen for a long time. The mark of Gundabad." He stopped walking for a moment. "Gundabad?" Tauriel repeated in worry about what her friend discovered. "Isn't that in the far north of the Misty Mountains?" Eliriel asked, the ride to that place even with horses will take a day or two.
Legolas nodded at her. "Yes. I ride for Gundabad, will you come with me?" He asked the three of them. "Of course." Eliriel nodded together with the other two elleths.

The group grabbed two horses to share and packed a little bit of lembas they had with them for the ride. Legolas motioned Eliriel to get on his horse behind him while Tauriel and Laerornel were on the other and then they started their long ride for the Orcish Stronghold.
