you woke up to your alarm and went out to see itadori still sleeping soundly. today you were supposed to go on a mission with nanami and itadori so you woke up extra early just in case you didn't wake up before you had to leave.

because itadori had cooked for you today, you decided to cook for him this time, even though he did say he'd cook for you everyday. you made some simple pancakes and put them in an insulating container so they stayed hot when you guys decided to eat.

after that, you took a shower to freshen up and got in your uniform. soon after you were ready, you looked at the time and saw that it was 9:00am and you were supposed to meet nanami at 10:30am. you walked over back to itadori and woke him up by crouching down next to his bed and gently tapped his arm and shook him a little bit.

you did contemplate whether you wanted to wake him up in an annoying way but honestly you didn't have the energy for it,

"itadori," you spoke lowly, "wake up, i made us breakfast."

"mmm, five more minutes," he groaned,

"come on, it's already 9 o'clock, we have to get going soon to meet nanami-san,"

"please, just 5 more.. minutes.."

you decided to let him be for 5 more minutes like he said and plate the pancakes up for the two of you, taking out some cut fruits and maple syrup. once his 5 minutes were up, you went back to him and tapped his arm once more,

"alright itadori, your 5 minutes is up. come eat breakfast," you sighed,

"mm, okay," he got up slowly, yawning and rubbing his eyes, "wait, you made us breakfast?"

"mhm! you aren't the only one that can cook," you bragged. you both walked to the counter with plates of pancakes and different toppings to eat it with, "tadaaa!" you exclaimed,

"y/n! you really didn't have to, i said i would cook for us everyday!"

"yeah, but you'll get sick of that, plus you woke up too late. let's hurry and eat before we're nanami scolds us, yeah?"

"okay.." he sighed. you both ate your pancakes and honestly you had never made them this delicious before,

"woah these are really good! they're so fluffy," itadori complimented, "where did you learn to make this?"

"thank you. it was my mom's recipe," you smiled, "she used to make these for me a lot,"

"used to? i'm sorry," he looked down apologetically. you couldn't help but laugh, while he looked at you like you were psychotic,

"she isn't dead itadori, i just haven't seen her much since i came here,"

"i'm still sorry, it must be difficult to be away from your family,"

"it's okay, i still keep in contact with them," you smiled, "what about your family, if you don't mind me asking,"

"oh well both my mom and dad died when i was really young so i barely remember them, or knew what they were like," he spoke, "my grandfather raised me after that. he did pass recently though," you could see the change in his face when he talked about his grandfather,

"i'm sorry about your grandfather," you spoke quietly,

"it's okay, i'm fine now and he's the one who inspired me to do this and to help people. though he wasn't the kindest" he chuckled,

"that's really sweet, itadori. i'm sure you're making him proud,"

throughout breakfast itadori spoke about how his grandfather was like and you spoke about your mother until he eventually had to get changed into his uniform so we could leave.

once you arrived you saw a familar blindfolded man harassing nanami,

"hello y/n, it's nice to see you again. help me," he pleaded monotonously, trying to pry gojo's arm off his shoulder,

"sorry nanami-san, you're on your own," you grinned sheepishly, "it's good to see you too,"

"yuji! meet office worker dropout, sourcerer nanami!!"

"please, do not call me that,"

"wait, why'd you do office work first? that sounds so boring," itadori sighed,

"we should introduce ourselves first," nanami spoke professionally, "nice to meet you itadori,"

"oh right, nice to meet you,"

"what i learnt at jujutsu high is..." nanami began. you already knew what was coming next,

"not this again.." you muttered quietly to yourself. the blonde continued his speech,

"is that jujutsu sourceres are shit." he deadpanned,

"oh." is all itadori could say,

"and what i realised at the office... is that working is shit."

"oh really..."

they kept chatting about random things until you finally got into the mission. you did receive some background information being that the case involved some highschoolers and their death. as well as a specific suspect that could have used a cursed spirit. another highschooler named junpei yoshino.

you happened to be looking around the area of the highschooler's death when you all encountered 3 cursed spirits. the three of you handled one each. you took your's down relatively quickly considering you already had you katana imbued with cursed energy on you.

nanami was yapping about something you weren't listening to so him and itadori took their's down a little slower. when nanami was observing itadori's fighting against the curse, he noticed that it had a wristwatch on it, which was really strange since curses aren't typically known to wear accessories.

nanami took a photo of the curse spirit and noticed that it actually showed up on the camera. this meant that what you guys were killing were not cursed spirits at all. both you and nanami gave eachother a worried look and stop itadori from attacking it.

he quickly left you and itadori and took the bodies to shoko for an autopsy. he came back almost immediately and you all sat there waiting for a call.

after waiting for a few minutes, nanami put the phone on speaker so we could all find out what was going on,

"well, they're humans!" she spoked, intrigued, "uhh, actually more like ex-humans. the same as the highschoolers in the theatre, their bodies were transfugured using jujutsu.."

"but they had cursed energy?" you asked. nanami agreed with you,

"she's right, all of then possessed cursed energy,"

"well that's something you have to talk about with the murderer to get a more in-depth explanation on the technique," it went quiet for a few seconds, "hey, is itadori there?"

"yeah, i'm here," he replied,

"their death was caused due to a lethal shock from the transfiguration. you did not kill them, itadori. don't you dare think otherwise," shoko affirmed,

"uh, yeah, okay," he spoke lowly. you could already tell he was genuinely upset over these complete strangers death. he hung up the phone,

"itadori-" nanami tried speaking but itadori cut him off,

"usually the gravity of death is the same regardless.. but this- this isn't right!"

nanami simply ignored his rant,

"look, lets focus on the information right now so we can stop whoever did this, okay?" you said to him quietly. nanami nodded,

"the residuals were a feint to lure us out. whatever we are dealing with is more skilled than we anticipated. this matter won't be taken care of so easily. so let's get a move on,"

"right!"
