Unforeseen change (CaitBea)

Prologue

Two student-athletes from two different schools living their best lives as they are able to make it to their own dream schools.

Little did they know, this is just the beginning of what destiny would want them to go. Crossing their paths as rivals during their UAAP careers and unexpectedly fate will make it more thrilling and will surprise them the coming years as professional volleyball players.

Not only that. As they say, change is the only constant thing in this world we live in. This unforeseen change will give us all the rollercoaster ride of emotions we never thought we would feel. After turning to pro, years will pass and a full circle moment will unanticipatingly shake theirs, and their fans' world.

Cait

Busy environment, throngs of noisy students and taller and spacious buildings. This is quite different from my the previous school I came from, which is National University. Even so, this is my dream school.

It's my first year in college. I decided to join our volleyball team beforehand pa ako nag-enroll dito sa UST. I am really already planning to and magsisimula na ang UAAP and we're training really, really extra hard.

(While in training... )

We took a 5 minute break.

"Have you seen our upcoming match schedule na, guys?" Says ate EJ who just came sa pwesto namin from the other side ng gym. She's our team captain and she's on her 3rd year na.

3 days from now kase simula na ng season and una kaming maglalaro.

"Oo te! Ateneo man una nating kalaban. Mukhang malalakas pa man din uy" Ate Si replied in her bisaya accent. Cutiee din naman ni ate Si eh. She's the energy booster talaga ng team. She's one year ahead of me. And once, ate EJ graduates and leave the team, Most probably s'ya ang next team captain namin. Well deserve naman ni ate Si ang galing-galing niya eh.

"Ateneo? Kilala n'yo ba ate players do'n?" - Out of nowhere bigla kong natanong sa kanila. Si Alyssa Valdez na team captain nila ngayon at si Gretchen Ho lang kasi kilala kong players from AdMU. Sorry na. Hindi rin kasi ako pala nood ng T.V kahit NCAA or UAAP pa hindi rin ako pala browse masyado sa socmed.

Pero mukha ngang malalakas sila. The fact that they have Gretchen Ho before and now, Alyssa Valdez, mukha ngang mahihirapan kami. I know their setter, Jia Morado is superb too! Aside sa DLSU mukhang sila magpapahirap samin.

"Take a look at this!" Sabay pakita sa akin ni ate EJ ng picture ng players ng Ateneo. I guess it's a post from Alyssa Valdez's Instagram during their training .

"Hoy, ang cute no'ng naka shirsey number three (3) oh!" Ysa squealed as she points the one I know for sure, is also a rookie from their team.

Well, in fairness, cute nga siya. Kaso mukhang maangas na englishera naman. From Ateneo eh.

"Yung number 14, ang cute din! Ang papi 'no, Cait?" Alina.

Napunta naman agad ang atensyon ko na sinabi ni Alina na nakashirsey number 14.

"Parang hindi naman!" Pabulong ko lang sana sasabihin pero napalakas yata. Nabigla din siguro sa naging reaksyon ko. Maski si Ysabel Nakitingin din sa 'kin. They're all actually looking at me right now! Kakahiya!

"I mean, matangkad siya. Dami nila matatangkad sa team." Nasabi ko sa pagkagulat.

She's amazingly tall. And okay, I admit malakas ang dating.

"Ah! Oo nga matatangkad sila. Mukhang mahihirapan tayong kalabanin sila" ate Milena chimed in.

"Okay ka lang, Cait?" Ate Sisi asked checking up on me as she put her hand in my shoulder.

"Ah wala. Nagulat lang ako grabe ang tangkad kasi nila tapos nakita ko pa si Alyssa Valdez. Ang lakas kasi n'ya eh. Kinakabahan tuloy ako" I replied not telling them the real reason that shookt me. Mukha kasi silang maangas and lalo na 'yong naka-shirsey na number 14. I don't know but she caught my attention in an instant. There's something about her. Mukha ding maangas at masungit.

"Kaya natin 'yan, girls! Golden tigresses tayo so palaban at matapang!" - Says ate Donna May while Kecelyn mimicking the action and sound of a tiger's roar.

"Back to training na girls" Coach Kung Fu whistled signal for us to go back in training na.

Ayoko talaga sa Ateneo eh.

Bea

I was supposed to study in DLSU because my parents wanted me to. My mom, dad and even my older brother studied there until college pero naisipan kong mag Ateneo for some reason na my heart wants it. Kaya nang when I entered college, I was so, so persistent in convincing them to permit me 'cause I badly want to transfer in AdMU. Napapayag ko naman sila. Of course at first, I had to make a lot of adjustments. Because you know being in a new school and what made it harder is, it is no longer as easy as it was when I was in High School. I have to juggle all the things at once. And I was granted a scholarship as a student-athlete. So, hindi ko dapat I set aside ang studies ko for me to be able to continue doing what I love, which is to play volleyball. In my dream school.

There I met Jhoanna, my best friend who I eventually developed my feelings for. But the thing is, she doesn't like me back as she always tell me how kilig she is with her crush that luckily likes her back. Actually, he is courting her na nga eh. How fortunate of me, right?

Bawi na lang next life...

(At Ateneo's BEG... )

"Girls lumabas na 'yong match schedule for this season." Coach O excitedly delivered the news.

"Really, coach? So which school are we going against first?" - Ate Ly asked with much curiosity.

"Ang unang laban n'yo will be against UST Golden Tigresses."

"Ohhh!" I breathed..

"Ano 'yon te Bei? May problema?" - asked Deanna.

"No. Nothing really. Naexcite na nagulat lang ako. That's all." I responded hastily.

UST was one the teams who gave us a hard time last season. Facing them is a no joke since they are the current number one team when it comes to spiking skill department most especially they got Sisi.

Pinapahirapan talaga nila kami..

Hindi talaga ako mag U-UST! Nothing against but, I don't know. Ayoko sa UST.
