Ethan being a seer, sees things when he touches people or objects of importance or just in general, of course. the power chooses, not him necessarily.
Sophia, being Sarah's sister, sees her all the time, since they're friends and the fact Sarah babysits his sister and technically him as well, so Sophia comes along now too.

ethan hugged Sophia, it was awkward but it was him being grateful, he still had her there, the vision was right but he protected her.. so he gets another day of pining after her.. one day he would tell her he is in love with her.
