The moon hung low over the Outer Banks, casting a soft glow on the sandy shore where John B, Sarah, JJ, Kiara, and Pope had gathered around a crackling bonfire. The sound of waves crashing against the shore filled the air as they laughed and shared stories of their latest escapades.

As the night wore on, JJ excused himself to change his shirt, disappearing into the darkness for a moment. When he returned, his usual carefree demeanor was replaced by a tense expression, his eyes darting away from the group.

"Hey, JJ, you good?" John B asked, noticing the change in his friend's demeanor.

"Yeah, I'm fine," JJ muttered, avoiding eye contact as he awkwardly shifted on the sand.

But Sarah's keen eyes caught a glimpse of something as JJ moved, and her breath caught in her throat. "JJ, what's that?" she asked softly, gesturing to the faint outline of scars peeking out from beneath his shirt.

JJ froze, his heart pounding in his chest as he realized what Sarah had seen. He quickly crossed his arms, trying to conceal the scars as he turned away from the group.

"It's nothing," he muttered, his voice barely above a whisper.

But Sarah wasn't convinced. "JJ, those look like they've been there for a while," she said gently, reaching out to touch his arm.

JJ flinched at her touch, his walls crumbling as he struggled to maintain his composure. "Just forget about it, okay? It's not a big deal," he muttered, his voice trembling with emotion.

But John B stepped forward, his eyes filled with concern. "JJ, you know you can talk to us, right? Whatever happened, we're here for you," he said, his voice unwavering as he placed a hand on JJ's shoulder.

For a moment, JJ hesitated, his mind racing with memories he had long tried to forget. But then, with a heavy sigh, he nodded, his defenses crumbling as he finally let his friends in.

And as the waves crashed against the shore and the bonfire crackled in the night, JJ shared his story with the people who had become more than just friends—they were his family, his anchor in a world filled with uncertainty. And in that moment, surrounded by love and acceptance, JJ knew that he was not alone. As JJ opened up about his past, his friends listened intently, their expressions ranging from shock to empathy. John B's jaw clenched as he realized the depth of his friend's pain, while Sarah's eyes glistened with unshed tears. Kiara reached out to squeeze JJ's hand, silently offering her support, while Pope nodded in understanding, his logical mind processing the information.

"I never told anyone about this," JJ admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. "I always thought... I don't know, I guess I thought I could handle it on my own."

John B shook his head, his voice firm. "You don't have to handle it alone, JJ. We're here for you, no matter what."

Sarah nodded in agreement. "You're part of our group, JJ. We stick together through thick and thin."

Kiara added, "And you don't have to hide anything from us. We're here to support each other, always."

Pope chimed in, "We'll figure this out together, JJ. You're not alone in this."

Tears welled up in JJ's eyes as he looked around at his friends, feeling a weight lift off his shoulders. For so long, he had carried the burden of his past alone, but now, with his friends by his side, he felt a glimmer of hope.

"Thank you," he whispered, his voice choked with emotion. "I don't know what I'd do without you guys."

And as they sat around the bonfire, their bond stronger than ever, they knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, they would face them together, as a family forged in the fires of friendship and loyalty.
