"Mommy-" Charlotte whimpered as she was sitting i to Meredith's lap. They were currently at the airport, they would fly out for their holiday at Disney

"I know monkey, we can start boarding very soon and then you can take a nap, how does that sound?" Meredith suggested and saw her husband and two daughters walking towards them with some food they had gotten at the airport for during the flight

"Mommy! Emma giggled as she skipped towards her

"Hey sweetie, what did you get?" Meredith asked, trying to distract herself from the pain in her back

"A sandwich with bacon and cheese! Daddy got you the same." Emma told her, leaning a bit against her mother's wheelchair as she was impatient and really wanted to just be at Disney

"Oh yummy!" Meredith smiled widely and hugged her oldest daughter

"We're ready to board, right?" Derek checked in with his girls

"Yeah, let's go." Meredith nodded and started pushing herself with Charlotte on her lap who was half asleep against her chest

"Daddy! I want a huge sugarcone!" Grace kept going on telling her father, super excited about the trip while Derek pushed their carry on lugage that would hopefully keep the three girls entertained during the flight

"Mommy, can I sit with you?" Emma asked Meredith

"You'll have to ask Grace then if she'd like to sit next to daddy." Meredith explained to her oldest daughter

Luckily both girls agreed pretty fast to this so they only had to board now. Derek helped Meredith get out of her own chair into the aisle chair. He grabbed her cushion so she could use it on the plane seat

"Mommy!" Charlotte almost threw a fit because she had to walk

"Just 5 minutes, honey. I'll get in the seat really quick." Meredith tried to explain. She transferred after Derek placed her cushion down and she sighed in relief that this part was over

Meanwhile Derek made it once again clear to the staff how delicate they had to be with Meredith's wheelchair and joined with the kids. Charlotte climbed onto her mom's lap while Emma sat at the window, looking at the wings of the plane

"Are you comfortable?" Derek asked as he placed Meredith's legs on the leg rest because otherwise they would swell from dangling

"I think." She nodded. "But I think I need to take an extra dose of meds."

"I'll grab it for you." Derek said and saw the other people started to board the plane. Meredith was squirming a bit in her seat, Charlotte started reading her book while Emma and Grace were both looking out of the window

"Thanks." Meredith said and quickly swallowed her meds, hoping they would kick in soon

...

A while later they were in the air. Emma was reading her favorite book and Charlotte was asleep against her mom's side

Derek and Grace were chatting along about what they would do at Disney when Derek felt his chair jerking. He quickly looked after him and saw Meredith's legs spasming heavily, her facial expression showing she was uneasy and tired as she had woken up from it

"Hey-" Derek quickly got up and next to her, seeing some other people staring at them. He out some pressure on her legs to make them stop

"Im really tired-" Meredith whimpered

"I know. Do you want the girls to switch seats? You can place your legs in my lap then." Derek suggested

"No. Em doesn't wanna sit on her own." Meredith shook her head. Her oldest daughter was now looking at her parents, she knew when her mom was in pain and she absolutely hated it

"Mommy?" Emma whimpered

"It's fine sweetie, mommy will be okay soon enough." Derek tried to ease his daughter and tried to massage Meredith's back a bit without making her turn too much

"I'm sorry sir- I need you to sit and buckle yourself up, we'll start landing in a bit." The stewardess walked up to them

"It's fine-" Meredith nodded, really struggling to make it the slightest bit believable

"We'll land soon, you'll be back in your chair and you'll be feeling much better then." He assured her

"Hmm.." Meredith nodded and quickly checked to see if Emma and Charlotte were both safe in their seats while Derek went to sit in his seat

Meredith saw Derek turning around a few times and really struggled. The landing was very bumpy, she felt pain ripping through her back causing her to whimper in response

"Are you okay?" Derek quickly turned around.

Meredith quickly moved her head, she didn't want anyone to see she was on the verge of crying. If she moved to the left the other passengers could see it while her husband was in front of her and her daughters on her right side so she just closed her eyes

"Sure." She muttered

"We'll be out soon. Very soon." Derek worried a lot about his wife

Luckily it didn't go as slow as he feared. The other passengers were now allowed to get off and Derek grabbed their stuff ready

Eventually they wheeled out the aisle chair but Derek lifted her into it, not wanting her to transfer on her own. He then grabbed their bags and the girls but had to help transfer Meredith back into her wheelchair

Luckily it didn't seem damaged, except he'd have to adjust her footplate as it clearly had bumped into something

"Can we please just go?" Meredith muttered, pushing on her arms to keep sitting up

"Charlie, Grace and Em, can you hold onto mommy's chair while I grab our luggage?" Derek asked them

"I'm tiwed!" Charlotte whimpered but Meredith couldn't have her on her lap right now, that'd be way too painful for her

"Come here-" Derek lifted her into his neck, pushing their luggage to the exit

Emma saw her mom was slow so she decided to help push her a little

Luckily for them Christoper and Carolyn were waiting and helped them out soon enough

"What's wrong honey?" Christopher asked Meredith, seeing she was on the verge of breaking

"I'm tired.." She muttered

"We're going to the hotel right now. Your room is all ready." Christopher said, knowing it wasn't just her being tired..
