Meredith had made a lot of improvement over the past weeks but when she was tired she was much weaker. Currently Derek was on his way to pick up his daughters at daycare after his surgery

Emma and Grace immediately ran up to their dad as they saw him

"Daddy!" The two girls smiled widely

"Hey monkeys, where's Charlie?" He asked his two oldest kids

"She's asleep!" Emma said as they hugged

"I'll carry her, we'll go pick up lunch before going home." Derek explained to them and walked inside to carry Charlotte out

"Uncle Mark!" He heard Grace yell

"Hi girls!" He smiled as they suddenly felt as if the floor was moving

"What the hell?" Derek frowned, confused as it had even woken up Charlotte

"Daddy?" Grace whimpered in Mark's arms

"Can you take them somewhere safe?" Derek looked Mark into the eyes

"I'll grab Tommy and Eliza." He nodded and quickly collected his own kids

"I need to go check on Mer." Derek said sternly

"Go, I got them." Mark said as the whole hospital was hurrying and rushing around

"Please be safe." He kissed his daughter's heads when a stronger shock was felt, now he was really, really sure that this was an earthquake

"Go." Mark said sternly, realizing this wasn't a good thing and Meredith was completely on her own at home

Derek nodded and ran off, he immediately saw the earthquake had made traffic a mess so he decided to run home

He didn't know how he had done it, he was always sporty and fast but today it was a whole other kind of running

"Mer?!" He started yelling once he arrived at the house, immediately rushing to the bedroom where he had helped her to lay down earlier

"Der-" He heard her whimpering and found her on the floor next to the bed, on her stomach

"Hey, are you okay?" He kneeled down next to her

"My head.." She groaned

Derek carefully turned her around, wanting to check her out when he saw her head was bleeding

"Easy, your head is bleeding, I'll grab a towel." Derek said and rushed to make a towel wet and started to apply pressure

"What happened?" Meredith asked confused

"There was an earthquake, you must have tried to get up or something." He frowned at how confused she seemed. "Can I do a neurocheck?"

"I'm fine.." She groaned

"You don't seem very fine." Derek sighed and they felt another shock, this one lasted much longer, he lifted Meredith into his arms to prevent her from laying on the cold and hard floor

"Aww-" Meredith groaned from the sudden movement

"What's hurting?" Derek asked her

"My shoulder. Just a bruise." She muttered

"I wanna take you to the hospital." Derek told her when he heard the house making all kind of scary noises

"Just put me in my chair.." Meredith nodded softly

"Sit up for a minute, I'll put you in it." Derek nodded and got up, lifting Meredith whenanother shock was felt, he quickly placed her in his lap again

"Derek- The girls, where are they?" Meredith whimpered

"With Mark at the hospital, he has all the kids." He told her and she started shivering

"So cold." Meredith muttered

"I'll grab you a sweater." Derek nodded and quickly ran off to the closet in the room next door when he heard loud cracking and ran back, only to see the window break as a tree fell through it, right where his wife was. "Mer?!"

He screamed and ran at her, not caring about any possible damage

"Der-" She whimpered, partially saved by the bed but she was covered in dirt, some of the stuff had fallen onto her and he was scared to lift her out

She could have been hurt but she'd never be able to tell him because of her paralysis

"Okay, I'm gonna try to dig you out." Derek quickly said as he saw some cuts on her arms from when she was shielding herself

"Call someone and get out, what if it gets worse?"

"Nope, I'm taking you with me." He said and carefully lifted her, being aware of the broken glass spread around

"Am I bleeding?" Meredith asked him, feeling very vulnerable

"Yes you are, I'll stitch you up at the hospital, I'll lift you in your chair and I'll take you to the ER." Derek said sternly and carried her to their living room, placing her onto the couch where he could inspect her body

"Does it look bad?" She muttered

"Nothing dangerous, but I want you at the hospital to clean them and stitch you up." He told her and managed to let her agree to that

"I can wheel myself." She insisted

"No way, you have cuts on your arms, I'm pushing you." He said sternly

A little while later he pushed her into the hospital, avoiding the ER as he knew it'd be super busy because of the earthquake

"Mer!" Mark ran inside

"Where are the girls? Are they okay?" Meredith freaked out

"They're at your office with Addie and our kids." He explained to her. "I'm here to stitch you up, I can do a much better job than Derek." Mark winked but he was concerned. Ever since Derek had called to explain he was worried sick

"Her CT came back clear." Derek explained

"You took a head CT?" Mark frowned

"Hmm." Derek muttered

"He's insane." Meredith winked. "Derek, go see the girls I will be fine." She muttered, hating how dependent she was

"I wanna take a scan of her legs." Derek demanded before he kissed Meredith's lips and left
