Artemis as time passed, found himself ensnared in the labyrinthine web of palace intrigue, where every whispered word and exchanged glance held the weight of power and deceit.
Rumours of his father's impending decision to take a new woman as queen echoed through the opulent halls, casting a shadow of uncertainty over the once-stable kingdom.
The internal palace was in disarray, the birth of the new child would disrupt everything, including Artemis' position in the line of succession as low as it was already. As rumors swirled about the impending arrival of a new heir to the throne, tensions ran high among the courtiers and nobles vying for power and influence.
Artemis felt a sense of unease settling over him as he contemplated the implications of the new child's birth. His own standing within the royal family, as unstable as it was once before, now seemed precarious in the face of this unexpected development.
Would he be pushed further down the line of succession, relegated to a mere footnote in the annals of history?
'Stop it Artemis.'
'What would Cecilia think if she knew you were doing this.' He thought to himself, bringing his hands to slap his cheeks.
On the other hand, Cecilia was fuming, her anger couldn't be hidden as she forcefully mopped the floor with such monstrously strong strokes it almost shook beneath her.
'How dare that women come here!' She angrily thought.
Cecilia knew of the situation occurring in the palace and she knew exactly what would happen to the prince after the birth of the child was confirmed, the prince would lose any support he held previously which in turn would place him into a very dangerous position.
There would be a very high chance that once the child was born Artemis would not see the light of day ever again.
The thought itself terrified Cecilia beyond thought.
'My prince, I promised to keep you safe no matter what.'
'I refuse to let you be harmed.' She thought as she finished mopping.
A little later Artemis could be seen sitting in his room a book open on his bed. Artemis' eyes skimmed through the words on the page but not once was he able to retain any information as his mind was far to preoccupied.
'What will happen to Cecilia and me?'
'There's no way we can live like this anymore.'
'Damn you, you bastard.' Artemis thought as he turned the page of his book.
If you didn't catch it already the 'bastard' was meant to be his father, and so realising aggressively turning the books pages weren't going to be enough to satiate his anger, he instead moved to grab a nearby piece of paper.
He, grasping his pen tightly, began to draw a very abstract piece of art. It seemed to depict a child standing on the head of a blonde male who was lying on the ground covered in dirt.
Although it was very hard to know who this child and adult were, right.
Well that's exactly what Cecilia thought when she walked in too see what the young prince was up to, only to find the child mindlessly scribbling on a sheet of paper.
'He's going to be an artist I tell you.'
As she carefully snuck up behind the prince she could see the abstract image being drawn in real time only then did it hit her who the unnamed child and adult were.
Obviously she wasn't able to contain the unladylike snort which escaped her mouth, followed by a loud laugh. This laugh ultimately alerted Artemis of the presence of his maid behind him.
"Cece when did you get here?" He said whilst inconspicuously moving the sheet of paper under himself in a way to hide it from her prying eyes.
"Your highness I just arrived and seemed to have seen something so extraordinarily funny I couldn't control myself."
"Oh what was it?" Artemis unsurely asked, hoping that maybe just maybe she hadn't seen the drawing.
"It was just a yellow bird that slipped into the water, my prince." Cecilia quickly said as not to let the prince know she had seen the most exquisite piece of art known to date.
