Chapter 16: The Conflict of the Mind and Heart

Tobi gulped as sweat dripped down from his brow. "I came out here to see what had happened to three of our Akatsuki members since we hadn't heard from them. Then I came upon the reports made by Gato's henchmen and then watched what you did to him and his men, which solidified the reports as facts. Suffice it to say... you would indeed be considered a genuine threat to the Akatsuki." Tobi responded.

I shrugged, "I kind of figured as much. I'm aware of how incredibly powerful I'm becoming. So here's the question I pose to you. With you now aware of at least somewhat where my capabilities lie, should I let you live or squash you here and now? It's really all up to you. Personally, I'd rather not. So far, you've taken no real action against me or my family. You used to be friends with my sensei, even. And, despite you posing as the most powerful Uchiha in history, you can at least be reasoned with, it seems." I proposed.

Obito sat down and took off his mask and set it down next to him. He narrowed his lone open eye hatefully at me. "I'm the reason why your parents are dead right now, Naruto." He retorted.

I waved my hand as I sat down across from him, "I'm well aware. You, sensei, and Rin were all placed in a team together, much like my own. Rin was a jinchuriki, containing the Three-Tailed Beast thanks to the schemes of Kirigakure, which backfired when she sacrificed herself so they couldn't use her to destroy Konoha." I responded, which got Obito's eye to widen.

He stood up abruptly in a rage, "What are you talking about?!"

I looked up at him with a bored look. "Sit Down." I ordered with Cursed Speech, forcing him to do just that. "Rin Nohara, the jinchuriki of the Three-Tailed Beast and the girl you loved and held a crush on your teammate, my future sensei, Kakashi. What you don't realize is that she was abducted and was turned into a jinchuriki by Kirigakure so they could wake it up and destroy Konoha. It was the reason why Kakashi killed her to begin with. She had begged him to do it, and forced between a rock and a hard place, he made the choice to follow her words and killed her so it couldn't be released." I dropped.

Obito's eyes widened tremendously as tears fell down from his lone eye, "No! No, it can't be true! You're lying to me!"

I sighed and smiled sadly at him, "I have no reason to. You know it to be true." I stated.

Obito grit his teeth and grabbed a kunai and charged towards me, ready to stab through my jugular. But he didn't. He stopped just before he would. He dropped to his knees and began crying ugly sobs as he realized that the guidance he should've followed was not that old man from the cavern, but instead his best friend that he had sacrificed himself for to begin with.

I sighed as I held out my hand to him and smiled, "It's not too late to come back, Obito. You could still achieve your dream of becoming Hokage, even. I'm sure Kakashi would be more than happy to have you back." I said, my body glowing slightly as I helped Obito back up to his feet.

Obito's eye slowly widened as he looked up at me as he muttered something under his breath before swaying from side to side. "Before I make that choice..."

I nodded my head in understanding as I coated my arm in hardened in blood and pierced through his chest, right where his heart was. I quickly pulled it out and healed him up with RCT (Reverse Chakra Technique).

Obito blinked in surprise and alarm. "You can heal others as well?" He questioned me.

I simply nodded, "Yup. I got plenty of abilities. But what will you do now?" I asked.

Obito sighed, "I don't think I should return to the village just yet. I'll keep watch over you all until I can sort out my emotions." He said.

I shrugged, "That's fine by me but there's just one thing I got to say..." I said before my glowing eyes appeared mere inches away from his own. "I'm no fool, Obito Uchiha. Don't mistake my kindness for weakness like I know you have. You act against my family, you've written your name into Death's ledgers yourself. I will not hesitate to absolutely annihilate you off of this Earth." I warned.
