Second Place Silver

I don't understand you.

How can I be so much better than the girl

But still be second place to her?

Why I won't ever have the opportunity

To be the priority

Why won't I ever get to hear

How you need me here?

This isn't fair.

I shouldn't have to settle.

My momma said I was pretty

Daddy said I was strong

My teachers said I was smart

And my friends were just wrong.

Because I can live without you.

Silver chains don't compare

To the gold around her neck

And the crown in her hair.

To her you call her "princess"

To me you say "what's up"

And it's tearing me to pieces

Am I just not enough?

I don't want second place silver

What I want is diamonds and gold

And if you wont give it to me

I guess I'll just have to go.
