Chapter 20

I spent the next 15 minutes searching for Rocky before I finally catch him in the parking lot.

"Why did you do it?" I ask carefully.

"I just have to do what I have to do."

"You don't have to do anything", but he quickly interrupts me.

"No, Lex. I do. I also have to leave, I'm going to train in Russia.I know it's not fair to drag you out there and trust me I would rather not take you there" he spits.

"But I need to go somehwere, where I won't be think of anything else except him.

"Rocky please, just give this some time. Please don't do this. We all live with hurt as do other people" I beg of him.

"A lot of people don't have the choice. I do."

"And for that you're willing to lose everything?"

"That ain't everythig!" he yells. "There is a lot more to this?"

"What could be more important then your family?" Great now we're in a screaming match, but I have to try everything that I can to at least make him reconsider.

"Before there were reasons to fight that I could understand, but I can't understand this. What do you gain from this? Even if you win, Apollo won't magically get back to being his old self and get back to being completely healthy. Why can't you just accept it, everyone else does!" Teasr start to stream down my face as I desperately try to talk some sense into him.

"Because I'm a fighter! That's the way I am made and that's also the way that Mickey was made! You can't just change that!"

"Yes you can!" I mumble defeated. Mickey never backed down from a fight.

"You can't change anything. All we can do is just go with what we are."

"No, you can't go with what you are! Do I have to remind you of what happend in Vegas? Have you not read my articles and seen the news? You've seen him and you know just how strong he really is. This is suicide Rocky, you can't win!" I scream at him before I freez in complete shock by what I have just said.

"Lexi, always telling it like it is. You know what maybe you're right. Maybe I can't win. Maybe the only thing I can do is just take everything he's got. But to beat me, he'll have to kill me. And to kill me, he'll have to have the heart to stand in front of me. And to do that he has to be willing to die himself. And I don't know if he's ready to do that. I don't know."

And with that he gets into his car and speeds off into the night leaving me behing in the parking lot.
